Three workshops throughout the semester. Make sure you get your scripts in on time and respond to everyone else's. Gives good feedback

Want to get the easiest A of your life? Want to get the same feedback as everyone else in the class? You won't learn anything, but you'll have no trouble getting an A--same as everyone else in the class.

Prof. Rushin is a passionate writer with accolades that expand beyond the classroom. This course for non-majors is motivational and very clear in its goal. You are expected to watch a few films and interact with classmates to learn about the theories of creative writing and base storytelling. Film choices were relevant and TA's were easily reached.

This class applies formatting and screenplay points learned in CRW3610. As long as you can do that along with writing constructive and detailed feedback, you will do well. Gives detailed and constructive feedback. One of my favorite professors at UCF.

I had this professor for Creative Writing class for non-majors online and it was super easy and fun. You watch 4 movies, take a 10 question quiz and you have 1 exam (final). and a creative pitch project. Class could not get any easier and professor is cool as hell.

I took both screenwriting workshops and Advanced Fiction Writing workshop with Pat. First off, he treats each student like they are his colleagues which is cool. His classes are by no means a cakewalk, though. But as along as you are serious about writing you'll have a good time.

Very interesting class, refreshing to write movie scripts and watch movies instead of writing papers all the time. Class is only out of 100 points so every point is crucial however so no silly mistakes.

I went in expecting to write essays and was happy to find we were writing scripts instead. If you're more of a conventional English person, don't take this class. We mainly watched movies and read scripts. I recommend it, although he almost never got to my script before class ended so I hardly got feedback which was bad.

I took this class as an online hybrid for six weeks. Pat is very laid back but you can learn a lot from him if you participate in his class. He used groups to critique their own work but if you need assistnce all you have to do is ask. I wish this class had been longer, I could have learned more.

Scriptwriting - Took this class online and never regretted it for a second. Pat runs his class very effectively, is very polite and helpful. He can be a little slow replying to e-mails, but most of his assignments are crystal clear. The class was easy, but it was plenty informative.

Horrible. Zero guidance provided the entire semester, we were simply told to read out of the textbook. Disappeared midway through the semester because HIS script got picked up. Was much more interested in telling you how he got gypped by Hollywood than how to improve your writing. Easy grader but avoid him if you want to learn anything.

I took Pat's fiction and advanced fiction workshops. They were the easiest A's I ever received, which should have felt great but the classes were so boring. Everything is self-taught. He has no lectures prepared, no textbook to read from. He's the laziest teacher I've ever taken. If you're looking for just a grade but no education, Pat's your man.

He's a great guy, but somewhat lazy as a teacher... We spend most of the time in groups or watching movies with very little actual instruction from Pat. I recommend his class anyway, since it's at least entertaining.

I took him for comp 2 honors, best/easiest teacher I've taken so far. We wrote a movie script with a little bit due each week. I dread english and this isn't even like an english class. Take him if it's possible! We're basically all getting 100's. I love this class.

I had Pat for fiction workshop classes. His feedback was always involved and helpful, usually well beyond that of other professors. Class was casual and conducted in a round table sort of format, where everyone was expected to give critique on others' work. What more can one ask of a workshop? I recommend him and would take his class again.

This guy sucks. I have never had such a lame professor. In workshops he just regurgitates what students say. His own stories are trite and boring. He also seems to get angry if the whole class likes something that he does not. This guy is lame.

A great class that he keeps fun and interesting. Attendence policy is easy to keep because he keeps you wanting to come. As long as you turn in your assignment the day that he says it is due, you'll get full credit. All in all, a great class.

Laid back and fun, but beware the attendance rules! He deducts four points from the final grade per absence over three classes. And there are no exceptions. I tried to talk to him about it and he was stubborn and cold.
