Clear cut lesson and really displays the various bases of philosophy. Actually went over eastern philosophies instead of addressing as a religion. Makes clear what we should know for our tests and paper, and the review sess. is pretty much him giving the answers and we gotta understand it in order t remember the concepts.

I love this professor! I took his intro course last year and found it extremely interesting. The material is easy to understand if you show up to class and pay attention. I loved how he incorporated Star Trek into the course. Great man. Great teacher.

As an intro course, the content is truly challenging and difficult to understand. As a philosophy major (though still a Freshman in college, 19 y/o) I was able to follow the material. He's a nice guy, down to earth and funny, though the grading is based on 100 points (30midterm, 30essay, 30final, 10quizzes) and will sometimes seem biased.

He is a Sun Tzu expert --- wrote a book that was required for the course. The material is too advance for an intro course.

take his class!! he's such a great guy.. in class, all he does is talk.. no powerpoint, nothing.. but he is really surprisingly interesting.. there's one essay, a midterm & a final & both exams are short-essays style.. he THOROUGHLY goes over each essay question.. if you take notes, this class will be a BREEZE!

Very dogmatic about China, sounds like a Red Chinese party member when he talks about China, (that is most of the time)

Very passionate about philosophy. One paper, one midterm, and one final. That's all. He's very helpful, goes over the actual questions on the midterm and final before tests are taken. Awesome teacher.

I don't know what the previous person meant by "pretty" good - unless pretty good is means the same thing as ****ing awesome. He is funny, INCREDIBLY KNOWLEDGIBLE & a great guy if you're working with him. He's also capable of being WAY helpful to any student, from 1st sem freshman to Ph.D candidate.

Pretty good. (Asian philosophy at UH is generally mediocre.) Sociable and charming. Not as good as I had hoped considering that he seems to have a respectable reputation.

Very little writing involved with some 2 mids and final. Has study session which he gives out explanations to each question on the test. Very easy. Lectures are interesting at times. TA is the only hard part to get past.
