Seriosly the best professor I ever had. The lessons are interesting and you have to engage to get a good grade. This class is not for the lazy ones. Take it if you want to learn about the different perspectives in the world. You will walk out from this class like a more knowledgeble person.

He expects a lot from you, even if your a first year student. He has his opinion, and that has to be the only opinion. If your opinion is different than his, or you disagree with what his ideas are, you're not going to do well in his classes.

Giesler is one of the best professors that I have ever had! Assigns a lot of homework but it is all interesting and helps with learning the material. A few big papers/projects but mainly little reading questions. He is hilarious and really cares about his students. He is very passionate about what he teaches and it shows through his lectures.

Lectures are VERY long. We never got out of class on time. I hated his class. I dreaded going to it. He didn't have office hours, which made him even more unhelpful, and if you don't think like him, or don't believe the things he does, you're going to struggle with his classes. He is very smart, but his personality and ego get in the way.

I really DID NOT enjoy him as a prof, nor his class. I love sociology and anthropology, but not him. Any other S/A prof is fine by me.

He is incredibly rude and offensive to students, especially ones inside the major. He's called me stupid and accused another student of having dyslexia (which wasn't right in the context he used it nor was that remotely appropriate). Yes, he's knowledgeable, but he is a bad person. He's insulting and demeaning and a disgrace to the department.

Giesler, Giesler, Giesler. His class isn't really that difficult, do the readings write a reflection get the points. You're sure to hear some gems of wisdom come out of his mouth. He repeats himself continuously, so if you dont understand the concepts its your fault because he said them 100 times.

I have had him for three classes and he brings something new in every class. He is helpful in developing your writing skills and he is helps you think critically. He will challenge you though, and push you to be a better student.

Very frustrating. Has no structure when teaching lessons and often goes off on random irrelevant tangents. He is excited about the material he teaches but expects you to know it as well as he does. I missed a day of class in second week of the semester and he never let go of that. If you get on his bad side, prepare yourself for a long semester

I have very mixed views on him. I have really liked him for some classes, but not for others. He tends to play favorites, and you will know whether you are on his good side or not. He does know his stuff, but expects his students to know just as much as he does.

Absolute greatest teacher I have ever had. His in depth knowledge on a wide variety of topics is amazing. Although the papers are difficult if you are willing to let him help you you will learn a ton and improve your writing!!! I will definitely take more classes from Geisler!!!

Definately a good professor: he has a good sense of humor, likes thinking "outside the box," and is very cordial with students. His papers are difficult, BUT the reward you get from probing the deep annals of anthropology and interpretations of other cultures is invaluable. Take a class with him, and be prepared to work.

This prof is amazing! And it really shows in this course on African Culture in Latin America. It's so well- organized, his knowledge unbelievable 'cause he's really been there in-depth and he has great stories too! I couldn't wait till the next class! But he DOES expect you to learn and come up with original angles on papers. Cool!

My favorite professor of all time!! He's unbelievable! This class changed my life in a way, really mind-blowing. The books can be difficult, but he explains them well, and discussions are awesome! I kept reading stuff outside the course and will take all his courses. He's helped SO much with my writing, too!

Those who write negatively about Patric are intimidated by challenging courses. His interest outside anthropology is in the relationships he forms with students and their long-term success. I learned everything I need to know about college reading/writing and the utilization of many resources on campus. Every student deserves to learn with Patric!

Wow. I did not enjoy this prof at all. He does tell interesting stories but most of them aren't on the final, so by the time you get to the stuff that is on the final he is racing through it. He expects you to take in and remember things he briefly mentioned and hardly explained at all. Giesler needs to take How to Teach a College Course 101!
