Linton gives you all of the resources you could possibly need and more. She goes above and beyond and makes powerpoint presentations for her students for each of the texts. Her papers are simple and straight-to-the-point, and the homework is not too bad: two discussion board posts and a reading quiz each week.

Dr. Linton was great! She is very knowledgeable and passionate about literature. If you enjoy reading then you will love this class. The books that are chosen for any of her classes are great reads. There is a lot of reading for her class but if your focus is literature you should take it. She always responds to emails and is always willing to help

If you can't do it right the first time, forget it. This teacher does not clarify or forgive. For this class, you read a novel a week, do discussions, then write several long papers worth a hefty part of your grade. However, if you make an honest mistake, prepare to retake the course. She has no life besides this school & does not forgive.

Lots of reading but totally doable, even when taking 11 other credits like I did. Great feedback on all papers and assignments and encourages class discussion. She really knows her stuff. I am sad I did not take a class from her sooner.

Dr. Linton's Metaphysical Detective Story class is a great way to take an upper-division English course online. She uses several international texts and knows her material very well. She answers emails very rapidly and is extremely helpful.

Dr. Linton is the best professor in UAA's English Dept. She is organised and informed--she researches everything--and comes to class prepared. She is respectful of all levels of understanding and can explain concepts in many different ways. Explains all deficiencies in papers and can tell you what you need to do to make your stronger.

I absolutely adore Dr. Linton. Some people seem to be scared of her and/or her classes, but she seems to really appreciate people who engage her intelligently during class. I've had four classes with her, and used what I learned in many of my other classes. If you can only take one class, take Contemp Lit.

Dr. Linton is one of the finest teachers that I have ever taken a class from. She is extremely knowledgeable about the subject, very well prepared for class, and masterful at facilitating classroom discussion. She sets a high standard for performance, but helps you achieve that standard with her guidance. If the opportunity arises, take her class.

No 'real' critical thinking is required in this class except memorizing outlined lectures. I get the feeling that her lectures are so structured precisely because she does not want critical inquiry, which she does not handle well anyway.

Dr. Linton is one of the best things going for English @ UAA. She's intelligent, organized, open-mined, and very patient. Picks good lit for Contemporary lit class; lots of internaltional, which is a welcome change, when just about everything in English @ UAA is so white. She researches, and that is an added plus for the readings. You will learn!

I took 2 classes from Patty 8 years ago. I'm just finishing up my PhD and she is *still* one of the absolute best teachers I've ver had. She knows how to break down material, how to test, and she is committed to objective fairness. You will learn and you will get the grade you earn. Take her classes!

Film Interpretation Class- Thought it was a fun class. Pretty much just watching movies and writing/discussing. I would probably take it again, or sit in on it if I knew the movies would different, instead of some of the film snob crap we watched, actually the only bad one was a Peter Weir movie.
