Doesn't know how to lecture without causing half of the class to fall asleep. Often makes offensive and mildly **** comments ("I'm sure there's someone who speaks Mandarin. We're in Irvine.") during lecture. Not interesting at all, stay away!!

The class is easy and the information is easy to comprehend. The quizzes are easy. I never read the book, and did well on all of the quizzes and the one midterm. But... I personally don't care for the professor as she often comes across as particularly arrogant. It makes the 3 hour long class seem so much longer.

great teacher. she offers easy extra credit that can boost your grade a lot. you have to attend class however because everyday she randomly takes attendance. : ( i was never called and went to class every week. class was 3 hours long, so that was the only thing i didn't like. bring your lap top to keep yourself occupied when it gets boring

Second class with her & would love a third. Clear,interesting & extremely willing to help. Very friendy and personable. Go to office hours, she will clear up any problems or even just work through material with you. Not an easy grader & tests are tough but you can earn half a grade extra credit!

I really liked her. Really broke things down for us so we could truly understand. Took her time lecturing, did not rush. Super nice lady that seems to genuinely care about whether or not the students understood. Best ling prof. as of yet!

Difficult info, but not complex. She knows how to relate the material to the present day. very helpful, spends too much time sometimes on one topic. TA were the most helpful to clear up info. Every point matter, the little mess ups mess you up.

Lectures will clarify the book, discussion will clarify class. It's not a simple subject, especially b/c most people go in knowing nothing at all about it. Can be alot of work, but it's still better than math for breadth req! Lots of chances to review and make sure you understand before the tests!

Most helpful, personable professor I've had at UCI. If you are having problems, she will sit down with you in her office and tutor you herself and she is good at explaining. Gives clear lectures, has a great attitude and patience. Wish she taught more classes, there aren't enough profs like her.

I stopped going to lectures after the first two weeks and still managed to get an A+ in the class. As long as you understand the material, you'll do fine on midterm and final. If you read the book and understand it, you'll get at least a B.

class is easy. got an A+ on the final even though i missed most of the lectures. she's a good professor, but i think the subject itself is boring. if you have a good TA, discussions are helpful. reading is helpful. do the hw. extra credit is easy to get
