Prof Boyle is great at what he does & is a real gem when it comes to international relations. Make sure to get your own copy of the book (cheaper version on amazon btw) - the class only has 4 (one-page long) papers, a midterm, and a final. If you study your notes from class on his lectures you'll get at least a B on the midterm and final - TAKE HIM

Not understanding at all. Expect students to live up to his standards. Gives extremely mean comments in assignments. Often goes off topic for the sake of impressing the students with jokes that goes way off the chart. Throughout the course, he spent 60% of the time doing that than getting to the course material. Would not recommend him to anyone.

Is this a joke? im a major with a 3.9 in 9 classes and am STRUGGLING for a D+ in his class.the grade scale is excellent, but u need it with his standards. condecending, rude, and arrogant.thinks hes awsoeme when in reality isnt.not helpful in office hours and comes off as not caring. worst experiance at loyola, sadly. Totally easy class for freshman... seems like a waste of time but it will be great on your GPA and its kinda fun... one class we went out to breakfast at Heartland Cafe... that was awesome. Great guy though, someone good to know, esp if you want to study abroad... i likd him a lot!

very interesting class. lectures are great. he expects a fair amount of knowledge on the tests, be prepared to read a lot and study a lot to do well. only a midterm, 10 pg paper, group project w/ 5 pg paper, and final. great teacher.

Dr. Boyle is the best professor here at Loyola! His lectures are completely non-partisan, which allows the student to form his own opinion. Class is ALWAYS very interesting, he made me want to change my major to Poly Sci. 2 exams, 2 papers, one grp presentation. Highly Highly Highly recommended!!

Professor Boyle has influenced me to stay in Poli Sci--his enthusiasm and drive for politics is infectious. He doesn't grade very hard, but you have to read to understand the lectures. If you keep up--its a very easy and rewarding class.

He's ok, the class is a little too much for beginners and you spend the whole class going over the history of the wars. He does have enthusiam and you could tell he loves his job which makes me want to do good. There's a ten page paper so think about it.

Didnt think i would enjoy African Politics as much as i did. Love Dr. Boyle and his style of teaching. very interactive with the class. Not too easy on grading, not too tough. But i still know all the Sub-Saharan African countries by heart. Not bad eh?

I had him for one week and then dropped out because of my bad Eng. If my Eng. were good, I'd definitely take him. He is one of the best professors I've ever seen. Very understandable and so easy. He knows what he is doing.
