Took American Indian Studies with him. Very tough class, but I managed to earn an A. Participation matters, and you MUST take notes or you will be in trouble. The quizzes were the most difficult part and they take a toll on your grade. The exams were written and you will NEED to take thorough notes every day. A good experience but very challenging

McCutcheon is so nice! If you like Native American culture, this is a good choice for you. The text we used wasn't that great I will admit & he will give quizzes on material from the text that he might not cover in class because it's expected from you to read. Also take good notes! There is a midterm & a final paper where you'll need your notes!

Participation is a huge part of class, and showing up is only part of it. He tells you all the ways you can earn full credit, but it's still fairly subjective. Almost every class was lectures with quizzes on Fridays, so take good notes. Overall not a hard class and a good professor who wants you to succeed. Stay on top of things and you'll do fine.

I took both of his Anthro 321 courses, lecture and lab. Lab class was easy to understand and fun to participate in with lots of hands on projects. His lecture class though, as easy as it is to come in and take notes, his class is difficult. You HAVE to do the reading and study for the tests or your not going to pass his class.

Several tests worth of material crammed into one for no apparent reason. Study guide is absolutely useless because it lists practically everything we have done. No real way to study for tests other than praying for divine intervention. Prof may not be as malicious as he seems. Class is for masochists only, avoid at all costs if you value your GPA.

I love him as a person and as a teacher but I no matter how many classes I take with him I am never prepared for how hard his tests are! Great teacher but you need to be ready for a hard class no matter what you take with him.

I failed this course due to my own errors, but wanted to talk about his tests. It is common to see questions such as "what did I use the Tale of Two Cities reference during lecture to better illustrate?" This was not a Literature class, it was an Archaeology class. Lecture was interesting but you must take good notes and study to pass.

McCutcheon is a fair grader, he definitely requires a lot of reading. But he's fair and extremely helpful if you go into his office hours. He also has a pretty decent sense of humor

Assigns 50%-100% more work than most other professors. Due dates are final. Avoid taking his classes in a quarter where you are taking a full credit load, or other difficult classes. But if you plan on going to grad school and want to prepare for the workload this is a good start.

Wonderful instruction, he was clear and very helpful, his class will challenge you but you will learn so much from it that the work is totally worth it, as long as you keep up with the readings and go to class and do the the labs and take notes this is class is both rewarding and fun.

Dr. McCutcheon's classes will test you to your absolute intellectual limit. His classes are not for the weak. Don't take a heavy course load while in his classes because you'll end up blowing them off to succeed in McCutcheon's anyway. His intro classes are difficult; don't take them unless you have a genuine interest in anthropology.

I took several courses from him. Yes, he is tough and you will not breeze through any of his classes... BUT, you will learn and probably really enjoy it if you put in the effort. Dr. Mc Cutcheon is very intellegent and his lectures are so interesting. I loved all of his classes and respect him as a professor and a person. Great classes!

Not taking any interests in students is tough but McCutcheon takes it to an art form. I was impressed with how fast he was able to shoo me away when I went to his office during his office hour...about a 1.5 minutes. After asking him what is needed to raise my grade he said that I should not get any sleep till I get what is needed.

2-3 over nighters a week- prepare to skip other classes just 2 pass this one. Several students got suicidal, no joke. Nice person but attitude of "I fail you to motivate you." Most people got D's. Says come 2 his office but door is shut during office hours. AVOID!!! Ask a former student you know if u think I lie.

This class was once a week but everything that is expected of you is in the syllabus so if you follow directions and mark your planner you should have no problem/no surprises. Even though a 2 hr class can drag a long I learned a lot about opportunities available for me and how to prepare for my future career.

A wonderful professor, always nice and offers help to his students. If you enjoy anthro you will find his lectures very interesting and thought provoking. However, his tests are pretty hard. Make sure you take really good detailed notes and review them each night, this way when test day comes up you won't be overwhelmed. And do the readings too!!!

Listen up complainers. Ya, you bust your ass. Yup, gotta read the books... IT'S COLLEGE GET REAL OR GET OUT. McCutcheons is funny, practical, and yup- HARD. That is exactly why he has my utmost respect. He calls it like he sees it. He gave me good advice to get it together when I got in some trouble. Complain, it will be me glaring at you.
