Class is very awesome. Labs are a joke and very straightforward (nothign like orgo). Expect tons of reading. You need to read pretty much everyday or else you'll be overwhelmed. Cook was a really cool guy, but was a jerk when it came to examps (1st exam was CH 1 - 11). Very nice towards engineers. Overall: Great class/gives lots of info on the body

Great Professor, but a bit disorganized. Very funny and clever. Stays after class and answers any student questions, or just talks to us, until the next teacher kicks him out, then still talks while walking to his car. Tests formats are every type of question possible, but 90+ is an A.

There is no way around it this marterial is detailed and difficult to memorize but if you go to lecture with the slides printed out, write notes on them, go to office hours and get to know the material and Prof. Cook you'll do well. Another major thing you MUST do is all the online quizes, those questions were on the tests every time! GOOD LUCK!

Comment:
Professor Cook is a nice guy, but he can not lecture in a straightforward way. Spastic, offers inappropriate examples, talks so fast that he doesn't really control what exactly he's saying. it's hard to follow him and take real notes. His exams are extremely detailed, tons of memorization of whole diagrams. Helpful in office hours, but unfair.

Prof. Cook is a great professor. The lecture was a little hard to follow, but as long as you study your notes and do well on your presentaion and you should be fine. He is an easy grader and practically gave everyone in our class an A.

good proffesor, very friendly and helpful if approached but is classes are very interesting and hard and require a lot of effort. probably of the hardest classes in the bio department but it is worth it and the grade is rewarding if putting the work needed.

He goes fast. He talks about abstract ideas and throws in hilarious jokes and party tricks he thinks you should try at the next party. Tests usually ask for some really broad questions and then some obscure detailed ones. overall - just know that you'll need to work in the class, but it will all be interesting

He lectures very fast, he's like a physiology professor with undiagnosed ADHD. That said, he is very clear and clever, and keeps your attention. The tests have questions about very specific details, so close reading of the book is neccessary if you want to do well. You learn a lot from his lectures.

I think that Cook is fantastic. The pace is fast, but definitely manageable. He keeps lectures focused but lighthearted, throwing in some clever quips here and there. As of now, I'd say he's the best bio professor I've had at BU.

Nice guy. OK teacher. It is possible to get an A in the class if you study all the diagrams and pay attention to what he stresses in class.

THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE HAD AT BU! goes fast and uses big words in lecture, but as long as you speak up he will help you. very random, witty sense of humor in class. people complain about the work load, but its neuroscience! so what do you expect?! i would have his baby if my parts permitted it

Cook is amazing! He moves quickly, but if you keep up with the material you'll do fine. He is very understanding, extremely nice, and has no intention of failing anyone. The exams were definitely manageable if you studied. All you need to do is understand the diagrams to get an A. This is the best bio class I've ever taken!

read every single page in the textbook and memorize all the diagrams in great detail. this guy tries to cover way too much material. the key to doing well in this class is to memorize, memorize, memorize...there simply is no other way to go about this class if you want a good grade. oh and there's no curve, you get what you get. everyone's premed..
