Comment:

This music class was actually entirely about the Beatles. There was a good amount of work, but it was all easy and straightforward and interesting. A couple of basic online discussions, short written assignments, movie reviews, and several online tests. Sometimes you have to analyze songs and lyrics but it wasn't difficult. No textbook!

Comment:

Professor Davis was a father figure to me. He listens to his students needs and wants and tries to participate in giving feedbacks and students concern. He put pressure on his students so they could be on task. At the end of the quarter with all the stress that Professor Davis given his student was worth the insomnia.

Professor Davies is a great teacher. He is very helpful and answers pretty quickly if you send him a message. He uses a point system and has worksheets, quizzes, tests, film reviews, concert reviews,etc. He says how many points you need for an A, B, C and then you can do any assignments you want to get those points (not all!) I love this method!!

He is awesome. He always repects students, and tries to help us. It is hybrid class, so we can attend in class, or by online. Both are very good, but in class is more useful because he provides enough time to ask him the question individually, and feedback, too. I took the class MUS 3B, and 3C both. And I got all A beacuse he helped me a lot.

Paul Davies's classes have been inspirational for me. Using a mix of lectures, hands on labs with Sibelius and musicianship exercises in class, he teaches music theory in a way that makes it really sink in, to build a foundation for learning. These days you often need to combine material from online, etc. Not so with Mr Davies all self contained

Comment:

Davies is a very good teacher who has done all 3 of writing, performing and analyzing classical and opera music. He explained many ideas that were not on any test or quiz. That is good for me, because I have no reason to want to know how to pass any written exam about music.

Class was okay, learned a fair amount of information of the past music. However, the professor is a really strict grader. Expect to get low grades on most of your written assignments, even if you spend a lot of time on it. Heavy criticism and believes information written is copied from book on assignments. I would advise someone else, but is nice.

This class is titled Music Appreciation: The Beatles and it was the most fun I've had in school. I grew up during the Beatles era and this was a stroll down memory lane. Easy if you actually do the work, there are no deadlines, just points to accumulate and you choose whether to do quizzes or essays or both. Great class, have a lot of fun, easy A!

Loved the class! I have some background and thought the class might be a bit boring, but I was pleasantly surprised. I learned a lot! If you have trouble attending the lecture you can work yourself through the book and the course material online and still receive full credit. I warmly recommend the class with Prof. Davies.

Professor Davies' class is one of the easiest class at Foothill! You only need 900 points to get an A and just for coming to class everyday...you'll get about 700 points....how easy is that? The homework is all online and they are super easy! Highly recommended!!!
