He's not the best teacher, but he doesnt give up on students easily. He tries to help and is a great advisor! Much better than Nelson (BELiEVE ME I KNOW!) Although he is very unconfident at times, he isnt cocky or a jerk. He considers looking at a grade if you feel you deserve higher!

Bio 101 is hard material in general, but Dr. Kalb does an excellent job of giving notes that help to understand the material from the book and summarize it well. Very willing to help and nice about answering questions.

Peoplel say he is so hard and his tests are ridiculous, but that is the same for EVERY bio class. He gives thorough notes, helps students outside class, & tells you what is on the tests. The effort must be put in by the students since the subject is hard in and of itself. He is def a good teacher & even if he is nervous he knows what he's teaching.

I was a Bio major going into school, however that changed partly because of this class. He gives alot of notes and the tests/quizzes go into extreme detail. The homework was very annoying as well. I would advise you not to take this class, unless you are 100% sure you want to be a Bio major.

I thought that he was a good professor. He was better than my chem and math professors. Its just that this course is extrememly hard and reading the book and studying outside of class if a must. From what I hear he is better than most others. Also he gives all the notes, and everything that is on the tests he writes down. Good guy. Super Weird tho.

he is very nervous when teaching the class. he does however write all teh notes on the board so u do get all the material, the tests are very hard, but they are just trying to make the classes smaller. he does get boring at time. but he is very nervous

The thing about Dr. Kalb that people have to realize is that he is nervous when teaching outside of his specialty area. I am taking developmental biology and everyone who had him in 101/102 agrees that he is better in an upper level course because he knows what he is talking about. Unfortunately, he will always be the awkward nerdy boy from high school, just older...He is a very nice guy though.
