Dr. Dowling is a great teacher! I learned a lot of new things in this class. However, I feel like the majority of the assignments were regarding the context of essays, instead of what the essays actually consisted of. The class is fairly easy as long as you do the assigned reading and essays.

Dr. Dowling is a pretty nice guy, but there are a couple things you definitely have to do to get on his good side and once you're there, you're fine. First, show up and answer questions. I know it sounds easy, but he respects you for trying...Second, try to have the essays done 1 class early because that whole class will be on ideas for it.

Pretty good teacher. I didn't learn a damn thing though. The whole class is reading, and then comparing it to some other reading (Usually the bible). It isn't a particularly hard class if you have a decent ability of reading comprehension. Everything in class is of the same format, so you know exactly what is coming.

This was honestly the most useless class I have ever taken, he basically has you write 6 essays that are all the same form (one that you will never use outsed of his class). He gives stupid questions for his midterm and final that are minute details, not concepts or something useful. Bottom Line: TERRIBLE TEACHER.

I hated this class in the beginning, but i found that it was very helpful as the year went on. He grades based on format, then content, so essays aren't that bad. He's a very funny guy, and he really likes when you participate. You read some great works of literature, so if you don't mind doing a little work, this prof's for you.

I hated the class in the beginning and was very intimidated to answer or participate in class. However, as the semester went on I began to enjoy his class and found it to be rather easy as he practically spells out exactly what he is looking for in papers and what is on the tests. Follows his syllabus exactly and almost always let class out early.

Professor Dowling is a hard grader, but he goes out of his way to prepare you for quizzes and papers. If you don't like studying feminism this may not be a great class for you... but he is an awesome guy... very cool and laxed

As long as you read the books for class quizzes and participate, you get an easy A. Not that many papers and a fair grader. Always lets out early and a fun sense of humor. I stongly recommend if you don't mind doing a lot of reading.

If you can, get someone else. Many times he doesn't know the answers to his own questions. He grades essays very oddly and doesn't really explain it well. He will flat out tell you that you re wrong but won't explain why. You always get out early though and no class when essays are due.

I'll give him one thing, he does look like sean connery. His class was the hardest english class i've ever taken. The essay are graded very hard, and the quizes are near impossible. Although, participation is big, and if you talk you will most likely do well in the class.
