Paul Haber is unclear and never available. Stopped by his office this semester a few times for office hours and he was never there. His teaching is old school and would be great if he moved into the 21st century.

Most classes just consist of him lecturing and then moderating student debate. It is easy to get lost during his lectures as he uses no visual aids and can kinda drone on. Quizzes are all multiple choice and very easy if you have strong background knowledge and/or do the readings.

Comment:
Tons of readings for the class, but the readings are memorable and relevant. You will learn a lot. Refers to the TA for any outside information - this is fine as the TA was very helpful, accessible, and knowledgeable. You will do just fine if you do the readings and attend class. Lectures are less structured than other professors.

He gets off topic pretty quickly, so I find it hard to pay attention. His grading style is also pretty subjective, as he is against traditionally letter grades but still gives them.

Professor Haber is AWESOME! He cares that all of his students succeed and will go out of his way to to ensure you do succeed in his class. By far my favorite professor and he is a great mentor. That said, he doesn't just hand out A's without making you work for it. There is a lot of online article reading. Go to class and read and you'll do well.

Haber is a super nice guy and is very laid back. His quizzes and tests are pretty easy, all multiple choice and many questions only have three choices to choose from. Papers are also graded generously. His lectures can be a bit dry but I would definitely recommend him to other students.

Couldn't tell you how many times i fell asleep in Haber's class. he has a very mono tone voice, gets of topic very easy, and loves to hear himself talk. if you can avoid taking this class you should or try taking it with a different professor. he assigns a ton of readings that are extensive and difficult and there is a test once a week on them.

Haber was by far the worst Political Science teacher I have ever had. His Lectures are extremely disorganized and hard to follow, he just stands up there and reads something he typed probably years ago. There are a ton of reading which are difficult. And he constantly tells us to go to the ta's for help, like he can't be bothered.

In a large lecture setting, Haber is extremely boring and hard to follow. Would be a lot better in a small group setting.

Politics of Social Movements. Led as a seminar. Do the reading - take notes on them! Come prepared. Ask good questions. visit him during office hours. very helpful with papers. Yes, he's a leftie. But he's up front. And he likes to hear other viewpoints. But he's really smart, so if you want to argue, get your facts from someplace besides Fox!

Very approachable & knowledgable. Open discussions in class but not very structured for notes to follow up on the big reading assignments. Class is always interesting if you're into politics.

Comment:
Seems like a nice guy, but his lectures are unstructured and hard to follow, and he assigns A LOT of reading. He is also not very approachable since he says "Ask the TAs questions, and only ask me if their answers are insufficient." He repeats that almost everyday, so it doesn't seem like he wants to deal with us.

This man is the most biased, ineffective professor I have EVER encountered. I disagree with anybody who claims that he does not press his own views, seeing as I rarely hear anything come out of his mouth but socialist jargon, discussing how much America sucks. He pulls pop quizzes out of nowhere, and assigns an unfathomable amount of reading.

Paul's really a talented teacher and constantly working to stimulating thought and conversation. He's cautious to not force his viewpoint and will qualify any of his statements as opinion when they are just that. He also seems to really enjoy a meaningful debate and student thoughts. He'll only make you a better and more nuanced thinker.

I took Haber's Intro. to Int'l Relations course and it was extremely thought provoking. Sometimes the lectures could be a bit boring, but more often than not they were stimulating. I thought Haber did a good job of presenting different points of view. P.S. He's really interesting to talk to outside of class

I may not be the biggest fan of this general class however I would love to just go and talk to him for several hours, most of his topic are incredibly interesting. He has so much knowledge he wants to tell us that he needs to expand on what he tells us and not continually expand to new areas.
