Hatley is an excellent history professor. He is very knowledgeable and organized, and his class consists mostly of interesting lectures. He has a dry humor and can sound monotonous if you are tuned out, but overall I really love history and he is a great professor for it! Mostly lectures, a couple books, and a couple writing exams.

P. Hatley is a nice guy and a decent professor. I wouldn't take him again based on the fact that he is, and he admits, a grammar-nazi. The only assignments he has throughout the semester are tests that are essay based and timed; over the course content and three books you are required to read. Don't if you not perfect in English grammar or time.

He talks a lot, only way he can actually teach you the German language. Really likes it when students participate. He definitely remembers your face, and will speak to you in German in the hallways.

I LOVE Professor Hatley. He is an amazing professor, and I always enjoyed watching him lecture. The man is brilliant. He never has to read notes, he just knows his material. He's really funny, and will treat you with respect. However, don't cross him. He's available to help students if they seek it. Just make sure you study A LOT!

Amazing professor. He's funny and knowledgeable on the course material. I will advise you take notes and show up to class. You have to work hard on the tests and really study if you want a good grade. I came out of the semester feeling like I learned SO MUCH. Very rewarding class.

Dr. Hatley is a very respected man here at RSU. His history and education are phenomenal. His personality takes the cake, always making jokes about everything. Don't be afraid to ask questions about the language. He'll be super glad to help. He loves seeing students participating and actively wanting to learn Deutsch. Definelty hard to forget!

I felt that the class was harder than it should be for an entry level class but if you go to class and take notes you will pass the class with an B or higher. He isn't very fast about grading your tests but if you ask him he will reply but not over email bc he isn't good about replying.

He is a fine professor and extremely knowledgeable of all thing's history. He is a World War Two Historian for sure. He has an emphasis on European History considering his PH.D is in that field. If there is a question that involves Germany in World War Two or during the inter-war years and Hitler's Rise to power he would for sure know.

Dr. Hatley is my favorite professor that I have ever taken here at RSU. You listen to lectures, then take tests in essay form which was the way I enjoyed it. I truly respect everything he has to say. Make sure you go to class and take really good notes, I believe it was the key to passing all of his classes. I loved his lectures.

Very involved in his teaching. He really knows what he is talking about. Only 3 tests. The second one was optional. He is a very tough grader. Hardest class I've ever taken.

Dr. Hatley is a person I would enjoy being friends with. However I would not take another course from him unless he changed his educating practices, specifically test giving. 3 tests 3 books to read. He is not specific what he is looking for on the 1st test. Make sure you write plenty, and do not expect him to reply to emails.

Dr. Hatley really knows his stuff and gives out really interesting facts in his lectures. However, his classes are all based on green book exams. If you have troubles in grammar or are a horrible speller this class is not for you. He grades harder than most of the Comp teachers.

Have you ever had a professor that is so condescending and degrading, that you feel like you don't even care about the subject anymore?Dr. Hatley really knows his stuff, but his intelligence was masked by presumptions. He assumed we were all liberal vegetarians, who should know everything about American History because we are in the Honors Program.

I had Dr. Hatley for World Civ I and World Civ II. He was by far one of my favorite history professors at RSU. Very professional and he really knows his stuff. His lectures are very interesting and he gives study guides for tests. His tests are all essay so you have to study, but he never puts anything on the test that wasn't on the study guide.

I absolutely cherished my time as a student of Dr Hatley's. He is a fantastic professor with a true passion for his subject and is a wealth of knowledge. While our political views could not be more polar opposite, I've immense respect for this man. His strength of character is evident. It broke my heart to see my classmates sleep during class.
