To all the artists coming to bbc to take art classes: I have yet to find a teacher that is of any worth and Mindell is no exception. He fails as a teacher in teaching anything you dont already know. His advice is too vague, and his class in general is completely below average so no skill actually required to pass.

Professor Mindell gives great feedback, expresses great interest in my work with genuine honesty. He is passionate in teaching the class and helping everyone improve and reach their full potential. Many compliment my work and my talent, but truly without Prof. Mindell I would't have been able to reach my full potential as a painter.

Mindell truly made this class an incredible learning experience. I took painting1&2 with him and he was super helpful and encouraged me to continue painting. This class helped me observe things with a different perspective and got me out of my comfort zone. My paintings have developed a lot after taking these classes and thank him for that.

If you don't want to spend every week, miserable, for 4 hours I would not recommend this class. Actually... If you like yourself at all, you will heed my warning and RUN away from the idea of taking this class. He killed my spirit and bc of him I doubt I'll continue painting or take another course . Such a rude, condescending individual -100/10

I sincerely want to thank Paul for being such a fantastic art teacher. I've had several art professors, and as a prospective art teacher myself, I find myself referring back to his classes and methods of teaching. I've had courses where it feels like I'm dealing with more of an ego than a teacher, and I truly appreciate that he's not like that!

This was the best classes I've ever taken! It was my first art class and he made it a blast. I would recumbent this class to anyone. You have to paint about 5 hours each week or a little more but it is fun and well worth it. Class is great and it does not seem like 4 hours at all. TAKE THIS CLASS, you won't regret it. Professor Mindell is AWESOME!

I really enjoyed taking Professor Mindell's class for painting 3. He is an extremely fair grader and excellent teacher overall. He is very helpful in offering advice to improve your overall skill and color choice. Be on time, always always show up prepared with your painting materials. Best painting professor at BCC

I was happy to take Painting 2 with Prof. Mindell. He is an all around great professor, in my opinion I have never had a better art teacher who makes sure his student excel. Assignments aren't easy but with his guidance and helpful critiques, you will definately succceed and leave with more of an intrest in art than you had previously.

I truly enjoyed taking painting 2 with the professor. He is interesting, gives helpful and insightful demonstrations prior to painting, and is overall pleasant and laidback. He offers help and suggestions to improve my paintings and gave thorough critiques that were both constructive and effective. Highly recommended!

Came into class with an interest and left with a greater understanding and appreciation for painting. He doesn't give direct instructions which allows students to explore their own creativity and skill. Grades on effort not on outcome. Always gives feedback!(Good or bad) Few things not listed on course list I had to buy. Highly recommended.

He is a very good professor. He makes his students think a lot to push their artistic potential and gives a lot of suggestions on how to improve. I took his painting class seeking to improve my painting skills, and he really helped me with that. I strongly recommend him if you're serious about becoming a better artist.

He is a nice guy, but he knows how to pile on assignments. He is fair with grading, only thing I really did not like was how he told us how to paint a living model, the way some of us were doing it he said was "wrong" and in my opinion, there is no "wrong" way to paint.

He's a great professor. He is fair in grading, and definitely knows the material he is teaching. His explanations are precise and pushes you to think outside of the box. You cannot expect an easy A from his class and need to work for your grade, but it's totally worth it, if you really want to learn.

He's a blast. Down to earth, honest, and fair. He's clear and thorough about what he expects of you. If you expect to take this for an "easy A", don't bother. Expect homework-it's a PAINTING course. Willing to work with you in terms of style, grades, etc. So worth it!!

Honestly the best painting professor! He teaches you about various artists and gives you the best pointers on how to excute your work. I never missed one class which is rare for me, so you know it was a fun time! Materials are expensive but it is worth it in the end. Make sure you attend and get the work done, you should have no problem.

Considerate/passionate. MSU has similar supply list *may save you money later. Standard for studio etiquette is 2nd to none. Very helpful with portfolio review/transfer. Have open mind & absorb everything; has A LOT of knowledge/experience, teachings will stay with you after BCC.. Stay on top of homework hours; same standards at 4 year school.
