I really loved Paul! Im really interested in oceanography, so I feel like I enjoyed this class more than most. Hes super easy to listen to and you can tell he knows his stuff. Hes super nice if you ask him questions and always wants to help:) The only tough part was that the final 60% and there was no lab or anything.

He took marks off the total b/c avg was too low for midterm #2 which was so nice! It was tough for me b/c I'm so used to studying bio/chem. But it surprised me how much I had learned by the end and how applicable this was to our lives (in terms of global warming etc). He's the kind of person you love to see everyday b/c he's so happy and kind!

Dry course, all memorization. 2 midterms each 20%. First was similar to practice and easy, the second one was harder as not many practice questions given. Final is 60% which is heavy but was mostly straightforward. Very tough grader on written questions. Even though he posts notes go to class as he has complicated figures in them he will explain.

I really liked him! this class is interesting at first then slowly gets very dry and boring but he is good at trying to make it interesting. There are two midterms and one final... do the practice midterms! they will help you out big time

Some people are so salty - He is a good prof. Yes the content can be dry but he's really easy to listen to and you can tell he knows his stuff. 2 quizzes and a final, which I found to be fairly straight forward, especially with practice quizzes beforehand. Overall, a decent class!

Enjoyed the class. Some of it was rather dry. Focus on the practice midterms as they are a good indication of the difficulty of the actual midterms. I found the final harder than both midterms . Generally straight forward, never used the textbook. Read the notes, understand the concepts (mostly Coriolis effect) and you should be okay.

Exams come straight from his notes - read them throughly and you'll be golden. Make sure you're specific and clear on the written questions on exams. Textbook very helpful in nailing those written questions. He knows his material and you can tell he loves teaching it. Hint - go over the practice midterms and remember those questions :)

The course content is very very dry. Myers uses a lot of graphs and diagrams from journal articles and doesn't explain them too well. Midterms were OK but lots and lots of questions involving directions and currents that were tough. Final was easier. He is helpful and responds well to emails. Not the easiest or most interesting option course. Meh.

It's quite a boring class, the content is not that exciting at all and Paul does what he can with it, his tests are straight from his notes which are comprehensive so just study from those and you'll be fine. There's not really any reason to show up to class most people aren't paying attention while they are there anyway.

Dr. Myers is a great prof in a small class setting! Weekly labs were helpful but could be time-consuming. Midterm and final were similar to the types of examples done in class. He was happy to help answer questions after class/at office hours. Has a good sense of humour and is pretty easy-going. Flexible with due dates if asked. Highly recommended!

Overall good prof. Some of his test questions are identical to the practice questions, and others are kind of poorly worded and confusing. Overall, exams aren't too bad. He seems to care that students enjoy his class and find it interesting, but it can be a little boring sometimes. He's super clear and organised, which is nice.

Good prof who actually cares about teaching - actually wants students to understand the stuff before moving along. Exams were very much like the practice he posts, but attending class will help in nailing those specific questions.

Hint, Hint I would recommend reading the textbook throughly (like a psych text). Although notes are in line with exams, if you want to hit the specific questions read the textbook. Nice guy, fair yet still difficult exams, I liked the class but thats because I did good in it.

Paul was not my favorite prof. He had good notes, but the lectures were AWFUL! And unfortunately he had BAD body odour. He was obviously afraid of the class as he shouted his lectures at the back wall and stared at the ceiling. I have never heard such a failed attempt at explaining the corioliss effect... and it took him 40 min to not explain it.

This guy is awesome. The class is great. DO NOT buy the textbook! He even tells you not to on the first lecture. It is very expensive and he only tests on the lecture notes. The practice exams are very useful -- do them, trust me! The final exam may be worth 60% but it is very easy!

I had Dr Myers for EAS 212- Oceans. As a prof, he was great..his notes were above and beyond, he held office hours himself (didn't leave us to a TA), posted very helpful review slides, etc. However, the class material is moderately difficult and boring. But he is a genuinley great prof! PS- who cares if he doesnt make eye contact?
