While he's undoubtedly brilliant, be sure to enroll in one of his small classes. You WILL fall asleep in a lecture. Also, he sometimes goes off on tangents that never return.

I enjoyed his intro to political philosophy class, although it was enormous. It is absolutely essential you do the reading for his more complicated lectures, otherwise nothing will make sense to you

Nelson is great. He got me interested in material I otherwise would have never wanted to read or study. He's very funny and "old-school" in his teaching methods.

Prof. Nelson is very passionate about his subject matter, and really seems to care about his students' success. I found him always willing to help out, and really enjoyed his enthusiasm. He's totally one of those classic, aristotlian professors.

Paul Nelson is a brilliant man, but he should not be teaching an intro Poly Phi class. His lectures are slow and hardly 'bring the material to life.' Still, more advanced students may appreciate his fantastic knowledge.
