i took this class just for a requirement and there was sooo much reading. tests are essay based, and get easier as you go along because you begin to realize the pattern of his essay questions. 1 book report - not too hard. overall, not a bad class if you dont hate reading

Interesting class, easy tests, good conversations. The only problem is this man needs to learn to stop talking down to people when they screw up. He told me I need to better prepare myself for the real world, which is rude and ignorant considering I am a veteran.

He is very passionate about history and he makes class interesting.He NEVER tells you what is on the test and the expects a lot from you. I enjoyed the class, but it takes a lot of hard work to do well. Good Luck!

Siff is a really good professor for history. I am not interested in history at all, and somehow I don't mind this class. He is very helpful and loves history. Sometimes it can get boring, but that goes with all classes.

EXCELLENT PROFESSOR, NOT THE EASIEST BUT HE PUSHES HIS STUDENTS TO DO THEIR BEST. CERTAINLY EXPECTS A LOT FROM THEM, BUT IF YOU WANT TO BE ENTERTAINED AND THROUGHLY INFORMED ABOUT HISTORY HE IS THE ONE TO TAKE. A LOT OF READING, SO BE PREPARED!!!

Siff is the best... He is truly one of the smartest professors ever. He fills his lectures w/ not just events in history but fun anecdotes as well that professors that just teach by the book would not know. You can tell history is his 1st love and he is always available to help.

He is extremely smart and interesting to listen to. BUT, he does assign a tremendous amount of reading and there are three major exams(no quizes) and it is all essay questions. Also, don't expect class discusion. We were all too scared to speak up.. he has a way of making you feel stupid if you don't know the right answer.

Siff is fantastic. He is the most dedicated and knowledgeable professor I have had at SHU. Fantastic thesis advisor, will bend over backwards to help. Never met anyone that can rattle off books and authors like him. His classes are not hard, just pay attention.He grades papers before due dates so you can revise, I got a 100% once on a paper for him

Very smart man who knows a lot. HOWEVER, He is one of the most arrogant and condescening professors I have had at Sacred Heart. He expects everyone to be up to his level of knowledge of history. I would advise anyone to take the class with another professor if they could. Tests are very difficult!

Assigns WAY too much to read and i only had him once a week. Homework is usually the chapter and five or six long essays that come with the book. Review paper is easy and his tests are essay based so make sure to read ALL the essays he assigns because you will need to compare them on the test.

An Amazing professor, funny guy who really knows A LOT about history. Class discussions are always interesting, and a much better alternative to straight lecturing. A hard grader, and all tests are essay based, but if you do the readings, which can be extensive, you will do well.

Its not an EASY class, but its not impossible. If you do the readings, which can get to be extensive, you should be fine. Tests are all essay based, which tends to make them easier. But Siff is a remarkable professor, class is never boring, definately worth taking.
