Comment:

His lectures are very long and he expects you to write down every word he says. Tests and quizzes are relatively simple as long as youve paid attention and taken notes. He is VERY emotional in his lectures; very passionate about what he teaches.

Comment:

He is an amazing professor! Don't need a textbook because he is your textbook. As long as you show up to the lectures and take notes (he tells you what to write too) you should be good. There is also one weekly out-of-class assignment but it's usually simple and easy to complete. He also gives multiple chances for extra credit.

Professor Travis is awesome. Gives many opportunities for extra credit. Passes an attendance sheet around every class but it is not for a grade. Talks quietly but uses a mic. Only 2 quizzes, the midterm and the final that are easy if you pay attention in class. Makes sure you do all of the weekly assignments or you don't get any extra credit.

Very nice man. Captivating lecturer. Pay attention to quotes, references to poems, and people. Dates aren't too important. Solid choice for a history teacher. He really knows what he's talking about and tells the true story of America.

this is a man who really cares about his students succeeding. He also really knows his stuff! I have taken Dr. Travis for HIST 1013 & 1023 and wish he offered more classes. He lets you know what you need for exams. No textbook because he lectures like hes telling a story. One weekly assignment but its nothing too hard. Love him!!

One of the first things he told us was that he was the textbook, so that was a plus, but it also means you have to attend class to listen to his lectures. His lectures aren't boring, and sometimes are funny, as he likes to add in personal stories. There are weekly assignments, but they aren't difficult and they just reinforce the lectures.

You don't need a textbook for this class. The textbook is basically him. This class is lecture based. If you pay attention to his lecture you will do well in this class. Quizzes is based on the lectures. He also offer many extra credit opportunities giving you a very good change to receive an A in this class.

An awesome professor can tell he loves history and loves teaching. Participation is huge, Professor Travis really wants to know your thoughts on the readings. As a class, we read four books total, 4 out of the 5 books I would actually read outside of class. Loved the way he explains the Gilded Age. Definitely taking him next semster!

Dr. Travis was the best teacher I ever had in TWU! Never passed a history class before but Dr. Travis made history interesting to me for once. Took the 2 required history classes with him and had A+ on both! would definitely take him again if I had the chance. Extra credit offered, easy homework, and easy exams if you pay attention in his class.

Dr. Travis is such an inspirational history teacher. He teaches the parts of history that are hidden, unspoken of, and fairly whitewashed, and gives you genuine history. No textbook is used, he is the textbook. DO ALL OF YOUR ASSIGNMENTS. You can't get extra credit if you do not complete all of the homework, which is very easy.

Lectures are interesting since he is your personal textbook. Most of the time, the tests barely have a lot of what was taught and what he had you write down. Do all of the extra credit offered if you want an A average. No exam reviews are given. Four quizzes and a paper due every week, but they are easy.

Excellent quality of a professor who gives you many opportunities to pass his class if you have done all the assignments. He is a caring and well respected man who will not tolerate slacking such as sleeping in class or talking rudely while he is talking. The class is simple and easy all you have to do is show up to class and take good notes.

I love Dr Travis, he is one of the best professors I have ever had. GO TO CLASS! he is the textbook and everything he says is on the test. he only has a final and midterm & 4 quizzes, he gives lots of extra credit but ONLY if you turn in all the weekly assignments. i loved having him. He's so funny and personable & I actually learned a thing or two

Great lectures. Not everything he says to write down appears on the tests or quizzes so good luck with that. Those tests are not as easy as other people say, probably had a different GA at the time. Good luck! Gives extra credit though and the weekly papers are easy.

Dr. Paul Travis is a great professor. He really knows his stuff and makes sure you know it as well. Make sure to go to class because he is "your textbook"! Probably one of my favorite professors, he is super passionate about history.

I took his 8am class and surprisingly I never felt bored with his amazing lectures. He makes class very interesting and all you have to do is write everything he says literally he is the textbook and everything he says will be in the mid-term and final exam. lots of extra credit opprutinites.

My favorite professor by far. No textbook for the class because he " is the textbook." He is very knowledgeable and gives very interesting lectures that will make you question the history you have come to know. He also give a good amount of extra credit so if you show up and do the homework it should be an easy A.

I had him for an 8 am drive from Dallas every morning and never missed class, i loved the way he teaches. He is the textbook and requires you to participate, if you don't be will walk away from class. He is super passionate about history and is great in engaging you in it. He made us sing, laugh, and even cry. Loved the class!!!
