I have never had a teacher or professor that has the enthusiaim that Mr. Van Gilder has. He is a very cool guy and a great professor, although his lectures can bounce around sometimes he tells you what you need to know. Very smart guy I would recommend him to anyone.

really hard tests but mr.van was super helpful, he gave us a big project to work on but we had a month to do it. Appreciate the fact that he disabled the time limit on the tests. I wold recommend this instrucotor.

Van Gilder is a cool guy, but his class is unstructured. As a student who actually enjoys learning, I learned nothing in this class. For well over a month all we did was watch movies and then he assigned a huge test at the end which he never covered in class. Cool guy, but horrible instructor.

Mr. Van Gilder is WAY better than all of my University professors combined. He has the better attitude, handwriting, understanding, and overall knowledge than any of my PHD carrying Professors at UNCP.

This man should be teacher of the year every year. I had him for American History 1, and he taught us well. He gives us breaks to stretch to keep everyone from getting cramped and bored in class, we watch movies that are relevant to the material we are studying, and he always allows extra credit. He is fun and easy to get along with. Recommended!!!

Best college professor I've ever had. He keeps it interesting and fun, while teaching a LOT. His class is hard work, but you will get more out than you put in. You'll end up looking forward to going to class even if it's at 8 in the morning just for his personality.

One of the most innovative college professors I have ever had. He taught an entire class this semester without speaking a word! (by creating Power Point slides as reflecting his thoughts). Please take my advice and see for yourself how cool his classes are--you won't be sorry....

You can't help but get excited about the subject matter when Mr. Van Gilder is spazzing out about it. Some say his classes are too hard, but he's very accomodating in the area of extra credit. Always fun to talk to after class.
