Took Lovell for online Minorities class. She is very helpful through email, answers quickly. If you just do what she asks, adding whatever points she asks, you will get full credit! Yes you have to read because it is an online class, but I would absolutely take it again

This course has been one of my favorite classes at Pitt thus far, and I have had many, since I am a senior! I thoroughly enjoyed learning about our history through the perspective of varying races and ethnicities. I learned more than I have in many of my history classes. Dr. Lovell made the class interesting , she is a great teacher!

Dr. Lovell is a great and caring professor. Her on-line courses are very efficient and organized. I learned more in her online course than in any other course I have taken. She always responded quickly to any questions. The material was interesting and this course taught me more about Sociology than I ever knew before. Highly recommend overall!

The class is online which is convenient. You have weekly discussion boards and a quiz due. Tests are all essay but she gives you a few and you get to choose also you have a week to complete them. The class is interesting, and she is easy to get in touch with if you have a question. Just skim the book and turn in assignments on time. Good class

Highly recommended! One of the only professors at Pitt who truly wants you to get in an 'A' in her course. She's very straightforward, in intro, she said exactly what was on the exams so studying was a breeze. She's also very approachable and very willing to help you out if you need it.

Comment:
I rarely attended lectures after the first month or so b/c Lovell was a bit too liberal minded for my taste and I often found her preaching such viewpoints rather than TEACHING both sides of a social argument (e.g. views on social inequality). Fortuneately, the exams are very easy and I was able to obtain an A despite missing 2/3 of the lectures.

Professor Lovell was definitely one of my favorite teachers at Pitt. She somehow makes painfully dry subjects like statistics seem interesting. She's very liberal and makes it known!
