Comment:
Professor Johnson is a chill funny teacher. His classes are completely optional and grade can be completely determined by the final since he replaces any lower test grade with your final grade. Also, tests have an overwhelming amount of bonus points so its very easy to make over a 100 on the four exams. Very easy to make an A.

Comment:
Your only grades in this class are the tests you take. He does not give any kind of practice and does not do a very good job of explaining how to do a problem. If you get him as a professor be prepared to learn the material on your own. The good thing is that his tests are graded on a generous scale and you final could replace all of your tests.

His grading scale makes a difficult class a little easier; a 70 is a B and an 86 is an A, and he offers more that 100 points on 100 point tests, but that doesn't mean his tests are easy! If you were REALLY good at calc in high school, take it. If not, don't. His lectures are super confusing and wordy. He's a really cool guy all around though.

I had taken Calculus before. Not sure about how I would have done if I hadn't. Lots of bonus points available on tests, but they are hard problems. No homework. Class attendance not necessary. Get at least what you get on the final. A little confusing with instructing some topics, but is funny while doing it, and will re-go over things if needed

if you haven't talk a calculus course before DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS you will not understand what he is saying. but if you have taken calculus before just show up the day before tests and for tests and you'll do fine. his grading scale is super easy and he gives a lot of bonus points

Great guy! He makes it difficult to do poorly. An 86 is an A, and there are always multiple bonus points available on the test. He was helpful if you had questions about the material, and was pretty funny in class. I'd definitely recommend him if you get the chance!

Data Compression class was really easy.I'm an engineer and took it as an elective, but didn't miss anything important. He kind of rags on engineers, but otherwise is a good professor. Just do the hw, which is about 50% of your final grade, and you're fine. He's also a fair grader. If 24/26 students deserve an A, he gives them each an A.

Pete is funny and personable. He will teach you Math. In fact, he is more concerned with your learning than with your turning in assignments. If you miss one, no big deal, you definitely get a second chance during the final. With his eccentric mannerisms and crude humor, he makes differential equations more fun than usual.

Pete is the best professor I have had at AU. He is hysterical in class but is also an absolute genius. He makes lots of tangents but that is just his style. He is an exceptional teacher and was beyond fair in his grading. 100 bonus points on the final alone and his grading scale - and A starts at an 85.5! HIGHLY recommended!

Dr. Johnson is hilarious, and he's smart; the only problem is he doesn't tell you how he grades. I couldn't even guess my final grade until it was posted. Great in class; knows and teaches the material really well, though he may be a bit eccentric. Also helpful during office hours, seems to thrive on doing proofs one-on-one. Highly recommend.

He sounds like a good teacher for other courses, but if you're taking Intro to Advanced Math, try to take another teacher.

Good teacher! He is a very nice man hard to understand but that is what makes him nice. Gives you every possible chance to succeed! 50 pts of bonus on tests, an A is an 86+. This is the easiest math possible I never studied but did take notes and made a high A! Take him !

Comment:
Pete is comically absent-minded at times. He is often startled by long or complex mathematical expressions left on the blackboard by the previous professor. His appearance is invariably sloppy and unkempt, typically covered in chalk dust. Most test questions are based on problems from lecture, so attendance is a must. Bonuses are from textbook.

Unless you are some kind of math genius, you will probably not understand 90% of what Johnson says during the lecture. The textbook is unnecessary, so don't buy it. He only has a few shirts, writes everything on the back of used pieces of paper, and mumbles constantly. Attendance is extremely optional; skip a few times to keep your sanity.
