Great guy and professor. I had him in Fall 2009 for The Jews of Germany. He'd give us the exam questions in advance, and if people wanted to google the answers, they could, yet so many people still failed. That was their fault, not his. I was always in awe of his breadth and depth of knowledge regarding anything German-related. Good trip too.

Took intermediate German several years ago, was VERY intimidated the first few classes, but stuck with it and am SO glad I did! Was one of the best experiences of my student life, I learned German! Would recommend his class to anyone, especially those who want to be fully immersed in the German language experience! THANK YOU Prof. Brown!!

What a great professor. He is basically your typical college professor. He expects you to get your work done on your own, but he is so knowledgeable on every topic he covers, you end up learning more than you ever thought you would. keep up with the reading and take good notes, and it's easy to get an A, but be careful, he isn't a highschool teach

Professor Brown is one of the most qualified and knowledgeable professors at SUNY NP. I have taken several classes with him and his enthusiasm and mastery of subject matter has not abated. He is in the process of retiring so I strongly urge anyone to enroll in one of his classes while he/she has the chance. New Paltz is going to miss him!

Anyone who says that professor Brown is unfair or mean probably just got a poor grade in his class. Some professors expect *more* of you than just coming to class and taking tests. He is an excellent professor, and I've learned a lot in both of the classes I've taken with him. Take a class with him before you graduate, it's worth it!

Professor Brown is both brilliant in his field and an incredibly adept professor. I have taken three classes with him and feel I have learned so much from him. His knowledge is extensive, he is understanding, and he has a sense of humor. While it is true that if you don't do the work, you will get a poor grade, it is easy to succeed in his class

I have had him for three classes and each class has been amazing. the information that he teaches in interesting and is stuff i remember.For the each test, he tells you exactly what is going to be on it and you know what to study. AMAZING PROFESSOR, VERY VERY FAIR! He is passionate about what he teaches. Not only is a he a brilliant professor, but his teaching style makes the information stay with you way after the class is done. He was an amazing teacher. I had no interest in German anything before this class yet he was able to spark my interest and keep it. This was my favorite class of the semester I suggest it highly to anyone! Lots of books to read but they are pretty interesting as are the movies.
