I had him for my first year seminar as a freshman. He is a brilliant, kind-hearted soul, with very much to offer. Just being in his presence makes you feel warm and uplifted. He was the first truly great teacher I ever had, and he showed me how important and rewarding literature, poetry, and life in general can be. He will be missed.

What a man. Although his assignments can be quite difficult as they require a great deal of time and effort, I have nothing but fond memories of my time spent in his class. Cummings effectively invigorates the mind as he is passionate about his Shakespeare and never fails to exert all of the energy in his body for each lecture. Garrrr!!!

SOooooooo smart. A great man, also my advisor. Every time I have sat down and talked with him about personal or academic problems, he has inspired me and greatly helped. Watch out if you have radical interpretations of Shakespeare though, he knows more about it then any of probably could ever and he is stuck in his ideas only because he knows.
