He's tough, he really is. He grades homeworks very harshly. I think my homework grade had to be around 60, but my test average was 86. He can be funny and cares about the subject, but I know I did better than many and I thought he was tough. There were tests were lot of people failed. Do the homework, and try to compare to others. memorize eqs.

If you want to learn the material, he's there for you. I was in his office every week for as long as I needed help, he was very patient with my every question. This was my second time in 160 and he made it click for me. Unfortunately he isn't teaching the third semester class.

A fun lab. I didn't know much about telescopes, but wanted to learn. This lab really helped me a lot. Very classy equipment that we got to use ourselves. Amusing that some were surprised that they had to actually do work.

Whatever you do, DO NOT take Dr. Erdman. I took him for Technical Physics II, and he made it absolutely horrible. At least 80% of the class failed the test. You can study all week and you will fail the test. Does not do any examples in class. All he does is derive equations, and teach concepts. Whatever you do, do not take him.

Being an introductory Observational Astronomy, the class highly was dependent on the weather. Dr. Erdman made the class enjoyable when we were inside for bad weather. The class is new so it's a little confusing with grading, but the class is worth taking.

Be careful with Peter! The beginning is easy, you should get a 90+ on the first exam. Starting on the second exam things get much harder, his correction is very hard, and he if you make a tiny mistake he takes a bunch of points. You should study in his class, I mean a lot! I would not recommend! I hate in class he doesn't give examples with numbers

Great Prof! Tests are difficult, but the grading scale is adjusted accordingly. A: 100-88 B: 87-75 C: 74-60 D: 59-50. Tests consist of material covered in class. Homework comes from the book. Read the chapters and understand the homework, you'll do fine.

HARD TESTS! somehow manages to teach everything but what is on the tests or even in the home work. what he does teach, he teaches fairly well. his book doesn't help a lot either. it explains about as little as he does, which makes sense cause he teaches out of it.

I really did enjoy his class, however his tests were extremely hard. So hard that I basically failed all of them. Homework is managable, he teaches a section over a few days and you normally have a weekend to do the homework. Take him if you are good at tests
