Orlick thinks he is God and the class books he personally writes are bibles. You will have to buy his latest editions as he changes a few words here to alter the books & therefore to keep his income flowing. He is out of touch with what REALLY happens in the real world of broadcasting.

Attendance is mandatory. Raise your hand. He does clarify assignments after asking several times. He makes you memorize a lot of words and definitions and only 1/4 is on the exam. By far one of the worst professors I have had and has completely turn me away from BCA all together. He does not want you to succeed and does not want you to pass.

Participation is worth more than exams (consists of reciting back the assigned reading). Papers are difficult but not impossible. Must memorize SIGNIFICANT amounts of material for exams and most of it doesn't show up on it. Model papers off examples in book and raise your hand A LOT.

awful, worst teacher in the world. Doesn't explain anything clearly and makes you memorize the whole book for the test even though only 1/4 of it is on the test. this teacher sucks sucks sucksUses huge words to make himself sound smart. He makes up a bunch of terms and you can't even understand the definitions.

Orlik really isn't as bad as everyone makes him sound. It's important that you read the assigned chapters before you go over them in class, as he organizes his notes around the book. If you don't like to speak up in class, you may struggle; class participation is part of the grade. Go to class, read the book, and you'll do fine. Curves the exams.

Most of the grade is based on participation, but he is really subjective on what he'll give you credit for if you participate. Also, he tends to call on the people who participate the most anyway, showing who he wants to do well. Midterm is very hard, he admitted that he should have given me more points on it but didn't. How classy.

He's a good guy and he knows his stuff, but he's still my mortal enemy. Don't take this class with him unless you actually care about copywriting ... if you do, you'll learn A LOT. if you don't, this class is hell. it was hell for me, but that doesn't mean he's not a good person and professor.
