Comment:
Professor Morgan is one of the most dynamic lecturers at Mount Holyoke. She encourages class discussions, which really isn't for me, but she creates a very comfortable and thought-provoking environment. If you come topay attention in class and read the primary sources (aka, actually make an effort) you'll do just fine.

Her lectures are dense but are very interesting. The class is well worth your time as she covers so much quickly, but also diverges into some lengthier and interesting primary sources. Her classes are predictably structured, which was good for me.

The class was on the Civil Rights Movement and boy, the readings were interesting but boy, will I never take a class with her again. I regret wasting my time at MHC with her, she does not respect your or your thoughts. No way to speak up without being crushed because it wasn't what she had in mind. Do yourself a favor and don't take her class.

Lynda Morgan helped me to become a better writer and researcher. I've taken a couple of classes with her (and will take more) and appreciate her dense, thought provoking lectures. Be prepared to look at American History with new eyes. She is exacting, yes, but in a way that pushes you to think carefully. Love this professor.

Not only is she a pompous know it all ("Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm right"), but she's also useless in the classroom. She went off on irrelevant tangents and skipped the essential parts of American history. In addition, the reading was rather repetative. She's also very condenscending; she even commented that my opinion was "idiotic."

I don't know what you all are talking about. She was very knowledgeable and had so much to share with her students! She's really focused on teaching the right way and making sure people understand confusing topics. I'll be taking another course with her in the future. She's very helpful and such a since person!

I took this class as an incoming first year, and it was my hardest class that semester. That being said, I appreciated the challenge, and, by the end, I realized that I still love history. Many of the writing tips I got throughout the class are helpful to me today. Sometimes reading and lectures are dense, but questions are always welcome.

Her lectures are rather dull and she tends to mumble, making it hard to hear. She also gets off topic easily and skipped over important chunks of American history such as the American revolution and the Civil War in her American History Class. These topics were just mentioned, which bothered me.

Took this last semester for a distribution requirement and I ended up enjoying it. Morgan is clearly very smart and genuinely wants to share that with students. She can get fed up when people haven't done the reading because she tries to incorporate discussion into lecture. Can be a bit confusing in assignments, but talk to her and she helps a lot!

Great professor. A tough but fair grader, really knowledgeable about subject matter. Definitely willing to engage in debate IF you know what you're talking about. Lynda is a super nice person, too, and her classes defined my MHC experience in the best possible way.

The topic of the class is very interesting and the readings were good. Pedagogy, however, is questionable. Outlines provided at beginning of class seem irrelevant to lecture/main point. Several times when a student asked a question, she answered with comments like, "This is not that hard to understand." Very uncomfortable learning environment.

There's a lot of reading but you don't need to do it all to do well in the class. Morgan is really helpful if you visit during office hours. Her tough grading really helped me improve my historical writing style.

I took African American History with her. She definitely does not like opinions that differ from her own. She is a tough grader especially if your paper differs from her opinions. Her lecture is pretty vague and boring. I don't feel like I learned as much as I should have in this class. The reading material that she chose wasn't very helpful either

I took this class for a distribution. She wants her students to develop their historical writing skills as well as learn the material. A bit of a tough grader--and she does have a lot of reading--but overall the class is good. If you don't like the topic she is teaching--DON'T take the class. You'll hate it.

Wow, I thought she was tough as nails. She doesn't like opinions that differ from hers. Lectures unclear, she asks questions and you have no idea what she's looking for. Tons of reading required. Everybody's different but I'll never take a class with her again. She's extremely political.

Prof. Morgan is very nice, but this class is vague, confusing and really off schedule. We're two weeks behind! and I don't feel like I've learned much about early American history. Also, she *really* grades down on papers.
