His class's lab is actually the hardest part for me. The quizzes are very tough but they are from his TA. The prof tries to make all students get good grades in the test by providing exam reviews which are very helpful. He is a nice person also and his power points slides are quite funny with animals memes

Comment:

The tests in this class feel almost impossible. The only way to get a good grade is if you read over the notes for a couple hours. The convenient thing is that he puts all of the power points online so you don't have to attend lectures if you don't want to. He is also very biased when it comes to the subject matter. The lab part was pretty easy.

I loved his class. The lectures were always interesting and you can tell that he loves his job and what he does. He does particularly enjoy trying to trick you on quizzes and tests, so be aware of that. Lecture and lab do not coincide, which was fine. Some people think he has a hard personality, but there's some fun in there, too. Good guy

Pete doesn't really have a lot to do with this class. He only grades one a take home exam (which you should really put effort into). Most of it is with your TA, which they are all awesome. All we do is walk around and identify trees. Really study them on your own time! And honestly you only need the Wessels book. don't buy any of the others

I had Pete for Dendrology, it was a great class and i really learned a lot people who do poorly in the class usually dont take is seriously and dont study. The class is designed around memorizing tree species and if you dont spend the time looking at them outside of class you wont know them for the quizzes. You go on a lot of field trips

Am I business major that was looking for an interesting course my freshman year. Gave this class a considerable amount of effort and received a B grade. Professor Pekins is honestly a great professor who really cares, even though the material is very challenging. Wouldn't recommend to someone who is not particularly interested in Wildlife Ecology.

Excellent professor. Labs dont coincide with lab, but hes up front about that. Very passionate about what he does. A little preachy. Gives you every chance to succeed. Practice exams exactly like actual exams, so do them. TA's generally chill. Pekins down to earth and knows his stuff. Good option for Discovery Bio D-Lab.

Kind of a lot of work for a gen ed, especially if that's why you're taking it. Don't buy textbook. He gives you a previous exam and sample text book questions in prep for every exam. Look up book questions online and get all exam answers from the slides online. Tests pretty much same as the practice ones. Don't have to go to lecture often or at all

Very easy and both classes I've taken were a lot of fun. Very knowledge about his subject, enjoyable lectures, even the lab reports were interesting. He's usually helpful and good at explainign things, knows everything about wildlife. Runs cool labs.
