Dr. Rebane is a genius. The man is probably one of the smartest profs I have ever known. Yes, he makes you work, but it looks like to me that the people who bombed his class are slackers. I read the book. I never missed class. I took good, clear notes. I studied everything. I got nothing but A grades in the handful of classes I took from him.

I was lucky to have taken three of Dr. Rebane's classes over thirty-five years ago. I was a history major and he was a professor who really made me work hard for which I am very grateful. I am in the history field today and I owe much of my career to him. I am also proud that today he is a good friend.

Some of these responses look like the professor wrote them himself. This was the first and only B- I ever got in a history course while at PSU. I'm no slacker. I was in the SHC, and I'm currently a history ABD at Yale. His lectures were rants and rarely germane. I found the test pedologicially flawed in every way. Put simply, this man can't teach.

Memorize date, people, events for his multiple choice. Anything he spends more than 5 min. discussing is essay ques. material. You usually get 4 possible essay candidates for his exams. Turn your brains on! He shows you how history repeats itself and how it relates to current events in our time. This guy wants you to use your mind!

Rebane is a genius. He is fair, open-minded, and very helpful. I took four or five classes from him from 1985 to 1987. Those were the best classes I took while at Ogontz (now called Abington). More recent students whine because they aren't used to work! Seriously, I saw it first hand because I went on to become a college history teacher too.

Don't take this class unless you're trying to read boring ass fine print. He lectures and expects you to take notes. Tests are based on DETAILS from the text. Very mandatory to read. I'm generally an A/B student and he gave me my first D. If you're having trouble, make sure you go to him for help bc he'll be more lenient if he sees you trying.

I had him about 2 years ago. I'm a history major up at UP now. I got a D in his class and had to take a summer course to fix it. Doing all the readings doesn't necessarily help, because his quiz questions are from the FINE print. Unless you can memorize that entire text book, you're screwed. He's funny but can also be a real jerk as well.

I had this guy about 5 years ago. If you do the reading, and show up to class then it is EXTREMELY easy to get an A. If you don't, however, it is EXTREMELY hard to get anything above a C. Do not take this guy if you are lazy or you plan to skip. He will eat you alive, and is funny as hell when he does so in class.

I had Prof. Rebane 33 years ago and he was great. A hard teacher, indeed, but I learned more from him than any other teacher I had. I took him twice. It's possible that he has not aged well.
