Comment:
This professor is so hard to learn from, as he expects that you already know everything before taking the class. It's typical for him to over-elaborate simple subjects but barely explain more complex ones. The weight of tests is also super difficult (20% for midterm, 30% for final). Please, don't take his class. Find another professor.

All he does is stands and talks about math for the entire class, he does not show you how to do any problems or use what he is telling you, he just talks about nothing

He really knows his stuff but can't break it down to a students level. Not very helpful, but he is a fair grader. Tests are hard and you have to explain how you got your answer in sentence form or as you work out the problems. Homework is online on Hawkes Learning. You have to pay attention or youll be lost.

There is an unfortunate disconnect between his lectures and the material. You will mostly need to teach yourself the subject. I'm sure he's a great mathematician, but a relatively poor instructor. I would advise taking someone else unless you're prepared to learn math through youtube, google, and your textbook on your own.

Peter Saveliev is a good professor though, i enjoyed his class through out the fall semester. At first it is a bit difficult to understand him but one you do, then you good to go. Just do your homework, quizzes and attend class you will definitely get an A. I noticed students that put a little bit of effort passed with B's and A's.

Regardless to what everyone has said about him, whether you are good at math or not, as long as you pay attention and use your prior knowledge you will be fine. He is always open for help during his office hours which I found benefited my success greatly. Of course the class will come easier if you're good at math but don't give up!!

If you are a math major or otherwise very good at math you will be fine. If not, Peters class will be extremely difficult. Generally a nice guy but not a good teacher. He is truly a genius and just doesn't teach at an appropriate level.

Honestly, I don't understand the bad reviews Dr. Saveliev has gotten. I think he's a wonderful professor! His accent is not hard to understand at all! Sometimes, his explanations are confusing, but he tries really hard & is very understanding during grading. Quizzes are of medium difficulty, but he grades extremely fairly. I'd recommend him :)

Worst Professor EVER! He would give a quiz and when people asked questions he could not explain the question or tell us what he wanted. He sounds like a speak and spell mixed with Steven Hawking that stutters. This makes his lectures extremely hard to listen to him and understand him. Avoid him at all lost!

I like his accent. Some complained, but I thought he was easy to understand. He's pretty funny, too. However, he's not great at explaining. It seems like he either under- or over- explains concepts. Make sure to follow along in the book, you'll probably need to learn from both sources.

My grades for the class were a 100, 100, 90, and an 80, but somehow I got a C in this class. I don't reccomend him he is egotistical, and if you don't already know the material he believes you should not enroll in the class.

Peter is an awesome teacher. I didn't know a lot of things from taking calculus 2 last semester and his examples caught me up lickety split. A lot of people don't like him because you have to actually LEARN the material. He is hard professor and for good reason - math is rigorous and he is preparing you for that very well.
