Probably the clearest math prof I've had. Excellent at explaining theory in an intuitive and stimulating way. Like most honors math courses at IU, the homework can be challenging, but the tests are relatively simple. They're mostly just calculations with 1 theoretical question. His passion for diff eq is clear in lecture and makes them engaging.

Dr. Sternberg is the best math professor I have had. Is is incredibly clear in describing both the "what" and the "why" of things we cover. His homework questions are primarily designed to practice major methods or illustrate additional important material AKA not busy work. He is also a hell of a guy, very friendly and funny.

Really amazing professor!!!He is so nice that he treated me just like his kid,I really enjoyed talking with him in the office hour.Definitely,I would take his class again if I stay here in my junior or senior year.BTW,You can't miss his lectures!

Sternberg is a very excellent lecturer. He has a way of making everything really clear. Although not the he is not the easiest, he allowed me to understand the material very well. I wish I could take all my math classes with him.

An excellent lecturer, and very student-friendly. S212 with him is challenging, but not impossible. He will do anything to help you understand and master class material; he sincerely wants his students to succeed. I am not planning on moving beyond Calculus II, but if I could have Dr. Sternberg for another course, I would very likely enroll!
