He is actually a good teacher however he is very liberal and if you go against his ideas, he won't like you. I took two classes with him, tough grader, idealist and should focus on course work, not other things!

Professor tells you what he expects from you, gives you a grading rubric-- its easy to get an A if you follow it. The weekly assignments are very simple. If you don't read the book, you will fail. A class where most of the effort is towards reading the book? Imagine that.

Professor Paxson is a very knowledgeable professor and tries his best for all his students to succeed. He is not a hard grader just read the book and the lecture notes and you should do fine on the exams.

Professor Paxson's lectures were both informative and humorous, which helped me, along with iced coffee, pay attention to him throughout his 9:30-10:45 AM Criminal Law class. The only aspect of Paxson's class I didn't like was the fact that approximately 70-75% of a student's final grade was dependent upon how well they did on FIVE exams.

Don't take a class from this professor unless you want to have your GPA drop from failing his class. He makes sexist and inconsiderate jokes throughout his daily lectures. Call yourself lucky if you get anything over an 80 on his exams.

A professor that uses students to boost his sense of self importance. Usually finds the chance to ridicule and demean at least one student per class. Generally finds himself hilarious, but when no one laughs he usually moves on to the course material quickly. Understands CJ theory but repeats the same generic examples 2-3 times from class to class.

Informative and organized instructor but thrives on providing condescending feedback to students; a bit too pompous for me. Pay attention to the syllabusassignment deadlines as he will give a zero if you're accidentally late. Watch spelling errors as he has no problem ridiculing students in a public forum.

He's the usual type of criminal justice professor. But what he writes for notes and what is on the test are not the same. Make sure you write down everything he talks about even if he didn't write it down on the board. He's funny and cool but doesn't really know how to teach a class.....

By far my favorite professor in the C.J. degree program. He is tough but it was the best class I ever took. I had him for Con Law previously and that is what made me take him again. You will never be bored but it is a must to study for tests. He provides a much different outlook than the other C.J. professors. Prepare to be shocked and have fun
