Difficult to do well in this class...no correlation between attending classes and labs and marks on exams- it's totally dependent on whether or not you can decipher a psych article. He's a good man and a good teacher, but his exams are not representative of waht the student knows.

This course is unavoidable for psych/neurosc majors, so hopefully he either retires soon, or changes his course material. He gives no preparation for the exams and the labs are marked ridiculously hard. I took in BC and had a much better experience (it didn't transfer!) Horrible prof, horrible course!!

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT'S ON THE BLOODY EXAMS!! I was under the impression that the first exam had 4 journal articles (it's all we review in class), when it only had 1 plus a bunch of questions from the text. I got a 45 on that exam and it screwed up the rest of my grade.

Wonderful prof/class-requires a lot of work to do well. Phil is extremely enthusiastic, and makes the class relevant to everyday life. Great class, it's too bad students outside the faculty of psych/neuroscience can't take this course.

Lectures were unstructured and unclear- focused on examples instead of defining terms. Labs were marked very hard, and inclass tests were a bit ridiculous.

bad tests. he really enjoys fooling people on hard t-test questions. (they're only hard because he doesn't talk about them in class). He wastes too much time explaining irrelevant points of examples. he gets confused on the easiest stuff, so he wastes time there too. bad class. avoid if possible.

Phil was a good prof, enthusiastic and clear. However the structure (weighting) of the exams was definitely something to be desired. All the material for the exams can be found in the book but you have to dig for it. Challenging course that could use a little more help for students.

Nice man, but brutal class! The textbook sucks, and he expects us to get everything for the tests out of the book. Class is somewhat helpful, but really unstructured, hardly any notes. The test marking scheme is totally unfair, but the content isn't bad

Ridiculous exams, 10 multiple choice questions with each worth 10%. Very unclear lecturer, not helpful and boring. It would be helpful if he taught the material in class instead of expecting us to just pull the information out of thin air.

Although everyone complains about his tests I think the content is fair. But I do think that the way his tests (and the whole course!) are designed shows a lack of respect for students. He doesn't seem to take the time to read over his tests for grammar!

Phil was by far my favorite prof this term! The format of the clas was intended to maintain interest all term long. He encouraged innovative thinking which made the assignments interesting! P2000 was difficult but this class more than made up for it!

Querky little fellow. Good at teaching. His tests, however, are extremely tricky and each question is too heavily weighted.
