Comment:
He goes through the material very quickly and actually tends to spend way more time on the easier stuff and breezes through the hard problems. He is a very smart guy but this hinders him from being able to explain things clearly sometimes. He is not terrible but certainly not the best professor.

Comment:
I am not a math person but I found his explanation to be very clear. Sometimes the pace of the class was odd (we would whip through some topics and spend ages on others) but there was never new stuff on the tests and his grading was fair.

Hirschhorn is absolutely lovely! His teaching style is pretty old fashioned- every class he lectures while writing everything on the board. He does talk fast and has pretty bad handwriting, but will clarify. There was nightly work but the course grade was solely based on test scores. And the tests were straightforward and didn't include proofs.

He talks really fast, and his writing his hard to distinguish. However, he has a very clear and systematic approach while teaching. And he do write everything down on the board, which is very helpful once I learned to read his writing. Office hours are very helpful too.

DO NOT take his Math 120 class if you are just taking math to fulfill the requirement. DO NOT. He's a really nice guy, but his classes are not for those who are not into math

Fantastic professor! He's really funny and makes entertaining comments while he's lecturing. His lectures are very clear, though he writes really fast. If you miss something during class just stop by office hours and he will explain it to you repeatedly until you understand, while feeding you peanut butter crackers.

Hold onto your notebook, because when Prof. Hirschhorn starts, he goes off like a rocket. It can be difficult to follow his lectures because of the speed and quantity of information presented.
