Comment:
I took ANT101 with Prof Naftaly and I plan on taking another course with him in the spring. His lectures weren't always the most interesting but the class was fairly simple. No homework besides reading, study guides given, extra credit given to bring grade to 75. His powerpoint slide print out packet was sometimes a little unnecessary.

Naftaly is very knowledgeable about all things Anthro and he is a great storyteller. Only three tests in his class. Plenty of reading assignments, but they are spaced out and up to your initiative. Show up to class to get the PowerPoints, pay attention, study well and this class is a good grade for sure. Good for the independent learner.

Well Naftater is a great professor. Although he seems to get off topic quite a bit, he seems to always find a way to relate it to the topic. Make sure you read and take notes on the lecture terms and slides packets for anthro or any of his classes. Pay attention and you'll pass

I heard Naftaly is great for anthro, but not so much for soc. He doesnt go over everything that is on the tests (which there is only a midterm and final). Makes you study everything without letting you know whats important and whats not. He goes SUPER slow, but he is funny in a dorky way. Really nice guy, just wish he was more organized with soc.

In the course of the class there were only three tests, including the final. He's funny in a dorky kind of way that I can appreciate. You don't really need to open the book, he goes over everything on class.

This is a great class. He tries to keep lectures from being boring and gives you review sheets so you know exactly what will be on the test. Also very understanding and doesn't mind you missing classes if you need to. I would definitely take this class again and am considering taking another with him for fun next semester.

This is the second class ive taken with naftaly, and I can't say that I hate it. He's a really nice guy who is very passionate about what he teaches, but its a little boring to sit in class. However, the tests and material are easy and he is really easy going.

Well, if you're looking for an easy class, this is it. He's a midterm, a final, and paper. He's a great guy but too busy to help his students. His class was boring, but he tried to spice it up as best as he could. An easy A but if you're looking to learn, take it with someone else.

Very good teacher, highly recommended. He makes the class bearable, meaning he lays out what you are going to need to do for the semester (how many tests/papers) on the first day. He gives review sheets for his test--they are a great tool when studying. I would take more courses with him without any hesitation!

Phillip Naftaly is excellent, he almost made me pick up an Anthro minor. I'd take another class with him in a second. I know too much about Jewish chicken farming in Pedaluma, CA, however, now that I took his class. Haha.

The material, to me, was boring. One case he repeated the same exact lecture from a previous class because he lost his spot. Did put personal experience. 2 tests and a cultural autobio are all you have for grades. If you are interested in Sociology, take him. If you're taking it to pass a Soc. Science, drink coffee first.

Great teacher, easy class. Good sense of humor. Test are very easy. He is a good choice for adult or non-traditional students as he is very understanding about attendance issues. Choose him over Haskins.

Best professor ever! You would be doing yourself a major injustice if you don't take at least one class from him. If you can't pass his class, you might want to rethink the whole college thing. Plus he's hot as he'll!! Smart is sexy baby!!
