Professor Brown was not helpful at all. He was never clear, his tests were very difficult, and he was not helpful at all. I went to his office multiple times to get help and he was very rude and not helpful at all. I would recommend taking Chem 106 from ANY other teacher besides him.

Really not helpful at all. SO hard to listen to. Provides no useful information prior to entering the lab. Not sure if he is trying to make it hard, or if he is sincerely oblivious to what might be a good approach as a chemistry lab teacher.

Dr. Brown is willing to help you, but you need to be courageous; he is not warm and personable like other professors. This class is totally doable if you are willing to put in the time and effort. Also, get a good TA and a good lab group. Make friends with smart people.

Dr. Brown does not give you the warm fuzzies and he does not fall all over himself to help you when you go and ask. But he is actually pretty nice and helpful, just don't be intimidated. It is a cultural thing with him. Class was way too much work for 1 credit hr. but it is very possible to get an A. It really comes down to your TA so pick wisely!

Professor Brown will work with you in the pursuit of knowledge. The concepts may not be clear, that is why you have TA's. He will do what he can to help and ensure you do well in the class.

The class is not that hard if you study for it, but Dr. Brown has no interest in helping you at all. Very mean teacher. The labs are fun!

Honestly, he's a capable professor who really wants to help his students. If you love exploding balloons, this is your guy. You have to work hard; it's difficult if you take a back-seat approach to the class, but it is not impossible!

This was a difficult class. A lot of work and studying to make the grade. I had a huge high school background in chem, so I survived. But if you haven't taken a chem class yet, it'll be a ton of work. His accent makes it okay though. And lots of explosions

Dr. Brown knows Chemistry well, it's just there's so much to teach it's hard for him to do so. Intimidating, but a nice man once you know him. Wry sense of humor and tries to keep it interesting with a lot of explosions. Keep up with ALL assignments to grasp concepts and get a good grade. TAs are a huge help so don't skip recitations!

If you are willing to work hard and keep up with the homework, the class isn't that hard. Brown knows what he's talking about and is always dropping jokes in class. He's slightly intimidating but overall, he's a good professor. It has often been said that one does not simply get a A in Chem105, but I did! Suckas!!!!

This class was absolutely horrible. Chem is difficult in the first place but this teacher makes it worse. He doesn't care what you get in the class. The only help you'll get is from the TA's and they help is minimal. The only way you could do well in this class is if you have the ability to teach yourself everything. Do not take Chem from this guy!

Honestly I wouldn't even go to class for this guy, except you have to take the iClicker quizes for points. You'd be better off studying on your own. He mumbles when he talks and doesn't make any sense when you can understand him. He's a nice guy though, but I feel like he doesn't teach very well. For Chem 105 go with Lamb, that dude's way better.

Absolute worst class I've taken at BYU. Don't bother trying to talk to Brown, he doesn't care AT ALL. So instead you go and try to talk to the TA's- well guess what- they don't speak english! Super hard to understand. AND you get to dish out $40 for access to their stupid website because Brown is too lazy to move everything over to Learning suite.

Not helpful, not inspiring, not anything. I took this class from him awhile ago and while I'm looking up professors for my other classes, swung by this guy's page to see how negative everyone would be, and thought I'd join in. He's the worst. I withdrew and took this class again from a grad student and got an A.

Nice person but has no ability to teach. He writes on the board, but unless you are in the front row, you can't see it. Before class he has loud classical music on and weird quotes on the Power Point. What he talks about in class has nothing to do with the test. ENTIRE CHEM DEPT IS LIKE THIS--PURPOSELY PUT QUIRKY STUFF ON TESTS.

This class was basically a review of high school chemistry. Homework through Sapling Learning was not too difficult, constructive, and graded easily. Brown and the TA were very helpful with any questions. Tests were not difficult. Bring the textbook to class and take notes in it for supplemental explanations.

Professor Brown enjoys to teach. Chem is not easy. We had weekly HW, in class we had lecture and mini quizzes over what we learned. After we took an exam, he allowed us to review the exam for corrections for extra points. Overall, if you need help he will do what he can to help. Its best to read the text before asking for help. Ask for help

Dr. Brown was great! He was very knowledgeable and clear on the concepts, and taught so that everybody understood. His sense of humor enhanced the quality of the class as well. The labs and homework are easy and not very time consuming, though you'll have to study well to get a good grade, as usual. I highly recommend this professor!
