I had already taken cal 1 before and got an easy B w/out much effort.I decided to retake as refresher before I take cal 2. From day 1 I had many issues with this class. I do not question his math skills.I personally believe that knowing a subject does not necessarily make you a good teacher. I found myself watching YouTube videos to learn something

Has very horrible handwriting and is all over the place during his lectures. Make sure you make your formula sheet as detailed as possible. Likes when people ask questions but doesnt answer them or answers them poorly. Picks people to ask questions. Can sometimes make you feel stupid or embarrass you.

The people who complained about his class are the people who weren't prepared. This has been the best math class I have ever taken and I loathe math. He is an interesting man, but he teaches very clear and knows what he talks about.

Worse professor at Neiu. Even though I passed his class. He doesnt know how to teach. Everyone in my class complained. he likes when people ask questions sometimes he wont even answer your questions correctly He picks on people to participate & if youre not sure so you ask a question instead of answering the question hes mad. His writing sucks.

He takes complicated or long explanations of concepts and boils them down to make them straightforward and understandable. Homework isn't collected but it's in your best interest to do it if you want to do well in class participation and on quizzes/exams. Would take him again.

Professor Gwanyama is an excellent professor. I found his class very helpful. He answered all my questions and had a clear grading criteria. He does not move on until everyone is the same page. Don't be afraid to ask him questions. HIs exams are really fair.

Professor is awesome! He is probably one of the best math professors at NEIU! I took him for 3 classes total. Got A's in all of them. Pretty much what you have to do is do the assigned homework, study, and come to class as you will feel behind if you miss a couple classes. His tests are really fair so as long as you study and do hw you will pass

Dr. Gwanyama cool dude. Takes questions waayyyy too seriously in class. Will not move on until the first question is answered (if you take his class you'll see what I mean). Cool guy, had his funny moments but difficult class. Not hard just difficult it makes you think and study.

I actually enjoyed this teacher. Yes, his manner is difficult sometimes and you don't come out with the deepest understanding of Calculus, but he really wants his students to do well, and rewards effort. I like that he saves complicated problems as in class material, but keeps his tests more straightforward. I'd take any applied math course of his.

Fun professor, very interesting and helpful. Just let him speak when he is answering your question. If not he will give you a rude comment for interrupting him. He gives you quizzes to better prepare you for the exams. The only problem is his final is from all the prior exams and includes the final.

Took him at NEIU, he can seem really irritating at times with his unusual behavior but he definitely knows his stuff. He knows how to teach Calculus & if you could look past his strange personality then you could learn something. Hardly used the textbook but strongly urge it because it helps. Be involved. He's fair but sometimes extremely stubborn.

"Please continue" you'll hear that alot! Gwanyama is an excellent professor and will make sure the entire class is on the same page before continuing. He will call everyone out randomly so don't take it personal, he just wants to help out. He's smiles all the time and is a gentle person, nicest professor I had at NEIU. Take him for Business Calc!

3 Words: DO YOUR HOMEWORK! This is an essential for this professor. He does not want you learn mentally, but to try out the problems and techniques and writing it on paper. He's very clear in his lectures and is a fair grader when it comes to exams. But if you are a passive learner, then I highly doubt you're going to get an A in this class.

AWESOME TEACHER! Do the hw & pay attention in class, and the quizzes/exams should be okay. His class is NOT easy but it is not hard. You WILL learn! He is dedicated & makes sure that everyone understands. HW is not mandatory but doing at least half is necessary to know the material. I went to every class, did most of the hw, & aced every quiz/exam!

He's a good teacher if you have a solid math foundation. He makes mistakes all the time, but laughs them off. He calls on people a lot because he wants to make sure everyone is trying the in class problems. He might call you out, but that's his teaching style, it isn't to be malicious
