Dr. Scribner was a terrific. I took two of his classes toward my MA in Philosophy and Social Policy years ago. He knows the history of western philosophy in its details and connections like no one I've met. I learned much from this man that I take into my own classrooms now. Thanks Dr. Scribner!

I changed my major to philosophy after taking two of his classes (intro and ethics). I then took every class he offered. I became a die hard philosphical materialist. I have changed my veiws since then (grad 1984) but still have my B.S. detector that he helped me hone to a sharp edge.

Phil was in a class of his own. I often wonder what he's up to. I occasionally check out his web page, TWOW.net, but it doesn't appear to have been updated in years.

I took Dr. Scribner's Ethics class in 1988, and almost 20 years later it is still the best intellectual experience I have had. This class changed my life, and I am grateful that I had a chance to take several other classes with Dr. Scribner. My understanding of the world is deeply informed by this experience, and the clarity is priceless.

Metaphysics of Materialism was the best class ever. It was extremely challenging, but completely changed my life. Prof. Scribner's own theories will reshape the world someday.

Comment:
Spent lots of time on his own philosophical system. Every second was worth it, and it made for a much clearer understanding of other philosophers covered in class. Very patient, humble man.
