Comment:

Avoid this prof at all cost. She has one of the most boring classes of all time, all she does is read exactly what is on a power-point, this reduces incentive to show up to class. I pretty much had to teach myself c++. She also teaches the subject in a the most difficult method. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Comment:

Carol does not know her material well AT ALL. She is someone who should be teaching high school, not statics and C++; two of the most gruelling first year courses. I learned nothing from her in statics, as she could never completely solve a problem, and she basically read from the book for lectures.Her way of teaching programming is very convuluted

Pay no attention to nay-sayers. Carol is a very good teacher.There is a lot to cover in a short time, and she does her best. If you can not keep up in this class, you should reconsider a future in engineering. If you dont put the time in to study and practice, dont blame the prof,blame yourself.

WORST TEACHER EVER. I'VE BEEN TAUGHT C++ BEFORE AND SHE TEACHES IT THE MOST DIFFICULT WAY POSSIBLE AND WITH A HARD-TO-USE INS PROGRAM. AVOID HER.

Carol is a very invested professor. She really wants her students to do well. Do the textbook work, make use of her office hours and you'll do fine. She is not a hard marker, even though the course is tough. Lectures can be hard to sit through, but she's helpful outside of class. Overall a really good person.

Dont know if she's having hard times but this is da most unhappy fellow I've ever seen. I remember this prof being so rude to me by ignoring my question after class cause I was only 10mins late to class. C++/STATICS are the classes u dont wanna attempt with carol. Comment:

C++/computer programming is a hard course, and having an important teacher helps a lot. Unfortunately Jefferies is a teacher that will either ruin your chances of transferring to U of C or give you chronic headaches most of the time. When you learn more from reading the textbook compared to attending the lectures, that's a big sign of a problem.

Brutal prof unless you like reading powerpoint slides off the board for hours. Fair enough marker but doesnt make any sense to have computer programming test all on paper. Lab are the only useful thing.

Carol is a pretty good professor. She is very helpful but sometimes struggles to communicate at a level that the student might understand. So I recommend reading the textbook before you talk to her so you can ask the right questions to figure out what you don't understand. Overall the Labs help the most - I would encourage going to two labs a week

Not as bad as the rating suggest for the course i took. Very helpful and will look at your projects if you ask her to and will show you what your doing wrong. Though a strict marker, it is near impossible to get a zero on anything as long as you put something down. Her classes are boring, but if you read learn off the textbook,it should be ez class

Carol is an awesome prof, she's much better then her rating suggests. The materials covered are not difficult if you keep up with your weekly reading. If you finish your project ahead of time and ask carol to look at it she will tell you exactly what she's looking for and what needs to be edited to get a better mark.

She's not as bad as the ratings indicate. The lectures would be more useful in the computer labs, rather than passively staring at code on the projector while she traces it. Also, the last midterm she gave to us was ridiculously much harder than the test she gave to the other section just hours before. I'm not sure how she didn't realize that.

Over all good experience . if you read the book and do the projects and review her notes every week it will go pretty smooth . one thing that bothered me was she sometimes use too much jargon , which work okay if you read the book.Over all it was great learning from her.

NOT RECOMMENDED. Boring and dry instructor. Only a few examples are done in class. Assignments are sometimes based on things she hasn't covered which I consider unfair. Especially in statics where the course is hard enough on it's own. Reads off PowerPoint slides, which is okay, but the slides are just copy/pasted exerts from the text. Overall considered a useless instructor.

Worst Professor you can ever have. She will not tell you in the class "important" details you need for your assignment. Even worse, she seems to only read part of your report and give you marks according to it. Her marking in this class depend on pure "looks" and how much she likes the project you chose.
