The best teacher you could ever have. Truly cares about you, and wants to provide you with truth and wisdom. Class is easy if you have opinions and good moral standards. To bad she is retiring in Fall 2013. She will be very missed on campus.

Easily the best professor at UMaine. She is an amazing person that cares so much about each student individually. She is so interesting and teaches her class so well. No test or quizzes, just person opinion and expierence papers. The class is so interesting and I learned so much about myself and the world around me. My favorite professor!

Comment:

Phyl is such a sweet woman and she genuinely cares about her students. She really cares more about students learning something over having to prove it to her. No tests and all the writings are based on the students "flinking" aka feeling and thinking. You will learn a ton about yourself, and the world you live in!

She's the best! She definitely has her own way of teaching but it works better than any other. She creates a very comfortable learning environment and is more interested in you learning and getting something out of the class than you trying to prove it to her. And you will definitely learn a lot in her class. Strongly recommend.

Phyl is such an amazing professor! Her class is hands down the best one I've taken on campus in my two years here. She really allows you to think for yourself and see so many different perspectives. Phyl's class was one of the best classes I have taken for all three years at the University. She encourages so much thinking and self-education. You simply want to find out more on your own. I benefited so much from her style of teaching and I will never forget the things she taught us. I think she even changed my personality for the better :)

You grade yourself in the class. Do your work, pay attention, don't miss too many classes and you'll do just fine. Phyl is incredibly nice and helpful, though you think for yourself a lot in the class. One of the nicest professors I've ever had. She's genuinely interested in you as a person and concerned for your success. Definitely reccomend.

class is a waste of time, no structure, she doesn't ever seem to get to a point. You can grade yourself make sure you tell her what she wants to hear. For the money this class is a waste of time and you won't really learn anything. Take it with someone else.

Comment:

One of the things I really enjoyed was when Phy shared the drawings/writing of her own child as he grew up. Menus, placemats...eventually actual writing from scribbles. It taught me a lot about actual development and stages. I agree that the class is way too easy, though.

Very nice woman. Too laid back. Take her class and it is an automatic A. I hated going to class bc there was no reason. Then she had us drive to Hampden Weatherbee school from the University, which she didn't plan out so students were getting mad/ confused, drove about 35 minutes and could only stay for 20 minutes bc the drive back was another 35 minutes. YOU WILL NOT LEARN ANYTHING FROM HER CLASSES.
