She is the worst. I wish I had taken this course at another college. It's the only class she teaches--you'd think she could do it--NOT! I hear she's leaving--what luck for other students. Let;s all be happy she's on her way out. I guess teaching is a skill some people have and others wish they had. She must have been hired as a draw a straw.

Prior to taking her class i had no interest in learning Public Speaking. Sad to hear that she's not going to continue teaching at skyline since she's a really great and motivating teacher.

Plays favorites! If your not one of them good luck. shes always in a bad mood and can get really annoying. she goes off topic a lot and her assignments are not clear. but she grades pretty easy

Grades fairly leniently on speeches, so getting at least a B is not out of the question with some effort. Book is cheap. Doesn't explain things well. Can be insensitive to quiet students or pick on them. Speaks too loudly and full of herself.

I took this teacher a few years back. She is not someone I would recommend to anyone! I'm an A/B student, and she failed my first paragraph only because I did not agree with her viewpoints. I only took her because it was my last semester until I transferred out. This teacher was a nightmare! Do yourself a favor and avoid Phyllis Taylor if you can!

I enjoyed this class. Public speaking is definitely not something I enjoy doing, but I found Taylor's class/lectures interesting and useful. If you participate in class discussions and stay on top of the reading she notices. I aced all the tests, and got B's on a couple of speeches and still got an A. Just do the work and apply her criticisms.

Favors students. Not the most helpful. She can be condescending. But she is interesting when she talks. Picky grader. Tough critic.

Comment:
Professor Taylor is not interested in working with students to uncover their potential. She is there to support her ego and play favorites. She rambles on and on about her own speaking prowess, but offers little proof. She teaches so close to the book that it gets an excrutiatingly boring. If she does not like a student, she'll do anything to lower

She is a good teacher. She is intimidating and may seem rude but she is actually a good person. She just wants her students to WORK. I got an A because I just did everything she asked. Also participation ends up being important.

This class is really interesting and a big part of it is because professor taylor makes it easy to understand. Attendance is a big thing for her but everything is easier if your just there. The quizzes are easy and there's no midterm. only one actual speech.

We had 3 mini presentations and 1 big presentation (cultural partner). There's 2 tests, mid-term and final, they are hard, you need to read the book. I don't know why so many people gave her hot ratings, they don't have good taste...Anyways, I barely passed the class though...
