He is such a boring teacher. I dropped his class within the first week because I could barely stay awake in his class. Don't take him!

He gives A lot of information and he's a bit fast. Catch up with his lecture to take good notes & read the text book to pass. Review sheet is some essay questions & he chooses a few of them for the test. I dont remember the rest. He is not easy but not that hard either just take good notes and study. I would take him again.

Great teacher..but hard..you just need well listening skills, an intrest in the subject, a willingness to read and attend his class.. and focus on his readings (the tests he gives are highly based on the readings he gives prior to the test date)...the midterm though was a 100 multiple choice questions and is cumlative. (I got a 85).

Prof., I just finished reading Ogg, Eur._in_17th_C. Working on Ergang now; Krieger,_Kings_& Philos_next. Sorry, I didn't keep up with readings in 1974. Great lectures. Inspiring.

I am an English major, interested in History. He covers an enormous amount of information in a short period of time. He's a nice, ancient man with an incredible amount of knowledge. However, I would agree with the other posts, his lectures are dull.

Thought it would be great, it wasn't. Very smart man, but terrible teacher. Straight lecture, nothing engaging. Impossible to take notes; no real structure to his lecture. 100 Q's multi-choice midterm. Final Exam is stupid. He gives all 7 essay questions, only chooses 4 at random. Bombed the midterm, but did well on the paper & final. I got a B

He knows his materiel very well but his class is very fast paced and difficult to keep up with. He assigns atleast 100-150 pages a week of very boring material. Unless you are someone who is interested in European history, you most certainly will not like the material he offers. Class discussion are limited, he lectures the full time

Over-whelming amount of reading for a one day class every week.. had the class read an entire 700+pgs for a week. Lectures were boring because he had no class discussion... and he is not clear as to what he's looking for in his paper or exams. He did however provide the essay questions to the final exam prior to the final (choose 4 out of 6)

Just took the class this semester and awaiting my grade. This is the hardest level one class i've ever taken, however, I would take it again in a heartbeat. The midterm was insanely difficult 100 qestions mc and the final was very long. You need to work really hard if you want at least a B in the class but the man knows his stuff and is great!

A very knowledgeable professor. If you plan to take his class to fulfill a requirement, I do not recommend it unless you are willing to stay on top of the many readings he assigns, and are able to remember the details of them. His class is the perfect class for anyone interested in history or are planning to major in history.

There are 5 books for this class. For homework we get 2 chapters a night (approx. 80 pgs of small text). Quizzes are T/F, if F, answer with correct answer. The quiz questions are extremely specific, yet irrelevant. Midterm is 100 Multiple Choice questions, that have a lot of "all is true EXCEPT" questions. I have yet to take the final. Hard class.

Extremely difficult professor. His midterm is 100 questions, which you have to take during a one period class. He will give you 7 essay questions to take home and out out of the 7 he'll give you 4 to answer in class.. but he is not clear as to what he's looking for in the essays. Also a term paper 10pgs. Not an easy grader either.

Dr. Pine is very knowledgeable in the subject and knows every little detail about history. However, you have to do the readings and his quizzes are very specific. Class is mandatory because he lectures rather than posting notes on blackboard. An A is possible in the class, but it recquires a lot of reading and note taking.

Class and professor is VERY boring! You ned to have some sort of interest in history to keep up with the professor. He just goes on and on and on in class as if hes telling a story with no ending. Does not put notes on the board and most of the time just sits at his desk and talks. Must be extremley concentrated to keep up with him and try and take

He's an amazing professor. I find it amazing how he can know so much about history, among other things. By the way, he's very funny! I love how he just randomly inserts jokes in his lectures. If you want an A,you must do all the readings. If you participate every day, but slack off in the readings, you can't get more than a B+ in Dr. Pine's class.

I had him as an undergrad 10 years ago and must say that he was one of the smartest people I ever met in my life. He gives alot of reading, he gave us 25 books to read for two summer classes that only lasted 6 weeks each...insane. But he was a good teacher and even wrote a recommendation for me for graduate school. Go PIne!!!

He co-taught this with Purnell. The class was all about Purnell but after his accident, it all fell onto Pine. Pine seems like a good person but he's extremely anal about his grading. His final was 4 essays out of 6 essays, with no choices! He actually gave a girl an F on an extra credit paper. I got a B but with anyone else, it's an A+. Difficult!
