My favorite professor. he loves the material. he loves students. he loves it when they think and have opinions. so friendly, so smart, and so supportive as a prof. he is a genuinely nice person with an enthusiasm for what he does. and with the exception of dickens, always picks good books.

Powell was the man. His enthusiasm for the material is contagious, and he made everything (even Derrida) comprehensible. The class was so good, he could be forgiven for the frequent quizzes (and the cruel delight he took in giving them).

Prof Powell knows Victorian lit like the back of his hand, and introduces students to very interesting and rewarding theories. A very good discussion leader and a very nice man to talk to. Even if you don't think 19th century lit is your thing, if you're willing to read the books you'll enjoy him.

This is a very knowlegable prof who is quoted in almost every Wilde book I've read. Also very helpful for students looking for grad school info etc. I always see him with starbucks in hand. I don't quite concur with the hotness rating though.
