A great man actually educating by examples and showing himself very knowledgeable and experienced so learning is easier fun with real world practical applications .Geology Professor R. Jeff Swope appears consistantly very jolly as well proving sympathetic,charitable ,kindly a gentleman whom leaves me very grateful glad I met the man .

Dr. Swope is by far the best prof that I have ever had. Teaching is an art and he is the master. You will not be bored and you will learn things. He is very student focused. He tells funny stories, draws pictures, and gives demonstrations to illustrate the concepts. A few years have passed, and I still remember what I learned in his class.

Professor Swope is one of the best professors I've ever had! He gives you all the information you need to succeed in his class. I learned so much from him and it carried over to this semester in my Petrology class. I wish he taught all the upper lever geology courses because he makes you enjoy and understand what you are doing!

Professor Swope was an awesome instructor! He may not be up on technology but e gives you everything you need to know in class. He is also willing to stay to chat if you need to. Like others say, he doesn't respond often to emails but the class is so easy, you shouldn't have any issues. All around good guy & great professor!

Dr. Swope is very entertaining, intelligent, and explains things well. The only problem is his organization. For my section, the last lab test covered material we hadn't really gone over in class because we ran out of time. But he's really great at helping you broaden your understanding of science.

I went to this class every day, just to see what he would do next! He certainly was very entertaining and I thoroughly enjoyed it! If you listen to him and keep notes you should have no problem passing this class with a B or better. He will repeat things during lecture several times that he wants you to know and you will see it on the tests!!

Prof. Swope knows what he is talking about and explained it in a way that is easy to understand. Some people do not like his style but if you allow yourself to get over the fact that he does not run a traditional classroom you will learn a lot from the man.

Dr. Swope has taught three classes of mine now and I have enjoyed and learned much from all three. He is highly animated, highly energetic, highly intelligent. All he wants is for his students to be impacted and engage with the material for future use. He hopes to interest non-science people with basic scientific concepts.

VERY animated. You will definitely pay attention, as he does move around a lot, involves the class in his lectures and performs experiments during the lecture. Tests are easy - he teaches in layman's terms, very knowledgeable and easy to approach. On a side note, do not sit in the front row, as he does throw rocks, balls, water and dirt.

He cusses a lot, but it's quite humorous. He is entertaining. I've seen him throw rocks and dump water on tables. Somehow I pulled off a B-, which I was pretty sure I was not going to pass. He is nice. Sometimes it is hard to understand what he is explaining. I never used the required textbook.

He's a bit scatterbrained, and yes, he curses profusely. On the other hand, you'll be dying to attend class. Every class is entertaining and an event in and of itself. He expects that you understand the material a little better than other intro Geology professors, but I would not consider him to be difficult. I wish I had more teachers like him.
