Having Magid for Organic was as pleasurable as having my teeth pulled out with rusty pliers, one by one over several months. Magid talked down to us that did not understand. I never missed class, lab, had a tutor. I failed, re-took in summer and got an A. Stay away from this guy

Jeez.. this has to be the worst and most evil professor at UT. He purposely make his lectures hopelessly confusing and then gives a super-hard test on top of it. Jesus christ, this guy came from hell. PLEASE do not take him, you will regret it!

The best class I took at UT. His notes and explanations are perfect. As a consequence, his exams are very hard for those who didnt study the material.

Comment:
Magid writes lazily and disordonately and it is hard to take notes in his lectures. I would have done much better in his lectures had I been able to actually read his scribbles on the blackboard. In addition, his tests are harder than average. Although he is a good orator, I would recommend a different O-chem teacher.

If you want to learn the material well then take Magid. He gives you perfect notes and if you visit his office he'll help you out with any problems you are having. I thought his tests were VERY difficult. So if you want to make an A then take Schell, you wont learn as much but it's much easier to do better.

Second poorest example of the teaching of science philosophy I have encountered. Comparison of Magid against many competent people that I have known. (20 yrs a PhD industrial organic chemist) A student can learn things, but these things are useless in further academics and any career.

One of my hardest classes at UT. Magid is a good teacher, you just need to study (more than I did, unless you want a C.) If you know the material really well, the exams aren't that difficult. If you only study halfway, they're extremely tough.

I worked the hardest and studied the most for this class out of all my classes at UT. Magid is tough; be prepared to study, but he is by far the best teacher I think I have ever had. Take copious notes and recopy them. Oh...GO SEE HIM IN HIS OFFICE!!

In class you don't learn; you just write like crazy. If you do get a chance to listen instead of write it is hard to understand what he is talking about - talks way above the level of his students. VERY VERY HARD - Take kabalka

This guy stinks! You can't tell what he writes on the board, he is very disrespectfull, he makes it a point to make you feel as dumb as possible, and is all together just a big jerk. If you get him, drop the class and sign up with another professor.

Excellent teacher; he wants to know all of his students and help them to understand ogranic chemistry. Class is not easy and requires much attention, however.
