Comment:

Not the greatest, but not the worst professor. He takes time to explain material to students if it's clear that you don't understand it. Quizzes once a week and two midterms. Homework and extra textbook problems really help with the quizzes and exams. His lectures are sometimes unorganized, but he gets the word across somehow.

he would kind of get lost in his own lecture kind of often, however he would be able to explain it later. It's not like abstract algebra is the easiest thing to teach. He was very ambitious with the topics, however he was a very fair grader. He would throw a lot at you but he would indeed curve the grades. He did try to hint about final problem

Comment:

Freese is a good choice among the math professors. The class was not easy and sometimes his explanations were not clear. Tests were quite tough. However when it comes to learning the actual material, he is always more than willing to help. He's friendly, has a dry sense of humor, and appreciates students that put in the extra effort in to learn.

He is really nice! Tries really hard to get his students engaged by having extra credit problems on the board. Calculus is a difficult subject to teach. He did a good job trying to make it understandable. Has online homework. And before and after every class he asks if you have any questions you have and will answer them. Great teacher

Comment:

Really easy class if you attend regularly. He assigns homework problems from the book for extra credit. Otherwise, the only homework you have to "turn in" is a few problems per chapter on WebWorks. There are three midterms and a final. Often hanging out in his office and is really nice if you need extra help. (I can't IMAGINE him being mean.)

A really great professor! No regrets about taking him. He let's you use your calculator for the 2 midterms, but the final is on your own. He grades homework and webwork but that is good because it helps your grade! I am terrible at math, but he made calculus really fun..amazingly!

hands down my favorite math prof at UH... if he's teaching something you have to take somewhere along the line... take it from him... he's very easy going and while the material can be pretty hard he's always willing to help... currently taking math 371 from him and i love it!

You couldn't ask for a better math prof. It's easy to tell that he honestly wants his students to succeed. I actually was interested during his lectures and felt like I was learning something during them. Not only is he a very good teacher, but he is also an extremely nice person. He always has a kind smile and is extremely approachable. A gem!

Excellent math teacher!! I am terrible at math, but still managed to get a good grade from him after studying like crazy for the final exam. He is very helpful and will help you understand the concepts in class. Lectures are dry... but what can you expect... it's math.
