Ingram is an excellent teacher. His lectures are oral only, but he is clear and organized. Important to read the book - and the articles he assigns. He gives a list of terms for the test - if you can list the important W's about each you have an easy A. I made an A, and he is extremely helpful and understanding as long as you prove you work hard.

He is very passionate about this course. Here's the semester for you: three test (including the final) all essay based no multiple choice and one separate essay. READ THE ARTICLES if you don't do anything at all in this class, do that, pretty much write what you read about in the article. He runs through the info. pretty quick so I would recommend a recorder. the notes you take in class will be exactly what he's looking for, word for word, so pay attention to things he say more than once.

Very boring and plain. You must take really good notes. I recorder the lectures which were helpful and read the articles! Those are worth a huge portion of the test. And really for the articles all he want is for you to write what you read. Take the 50 min course because it gets boring sitting there while he rambles.

He grades hard (spelling, grammer, content). You have to hit certain points on the essays. Doesn't like to be interrupted while lecturing. As long as you read, go to class, take notes, and when you study for the test get as many points per topic as possible and you'll do fine.

His lectures were very clear, but he often got sidetracked and began talking about things not on the test. However, he often repeats things that will be on the test a few times so you can be sure to get them in your notes. Attendence is basically mandatory to pass the class. The tests are very difficult. Make sure to take good notes.

This is not an easy class. Attendance is mandatory and he grades ruthlessly. With that being said, he knows a ton about his subject matter and is passionate about teaching it. Also, this is a Writing Intensive course, so expect plenty of writing and to be marked off for writing errors. If you're serious about history, this is a worthwhile class.

I strongly disliked this class. He is straight lecture, speaks fast, and if you ask him to slow down he ignores you. The review he gives before tests barely helped me, I memorized everything and still got a 76%. He grades harshly, for every grammatical error he deducts a point.Horrible. On the plus side, he def. knows his history =/

I thought he was great! He repeats himself a lot, which is how you know what to take notes on. He offers an extra 5pts on your total grade just for missing less than 3 classes. Study for tests using the lecture notes, not the textbook. ALL TESTS ARE LONG/SHORT ESSAY, but easy if you go to class. read the supplementary reader for tests!

Horrible professor, do not take his class. I am an A student, and I barely passed with a C. Most people failed. He grades his tests ruthlessly, and for every spelling/grammar/punctuation mistake he takes off one point. His tests are all essay, no exceptions. One of the worst teachers I've ever had.

He ruined my 4.0 that semester, I made all A's and a D in his class. He doesn't like to help students. I tried going to his office hours and he told me he couldn't help me! On one of my essays he wrote "it would help if you read" when i actually read all the time for his stupid class...he is boring and he has a really ugly attitude.

I had ingram last year, and i got an A in the class. He talks the entire time and you take alot of notes. I would consider bringing your computer to class. There are alot of key terms to know for the test, and notecards are helpful. The test requires alot of writing, but the review is helpful.

He seemed odd the first day but I kind of like him, when he is in a good mood he can be interesting, this guy really knows what he is talking about, but be ready to write...and write somemore, thats pretty much his whole lecture is you writing and then the exam is writing also. Study and ask questions, you will do fine. :D

Stickler for grammar and exams are WI. He is a great professor. Notes are clear and although he can skip around for the most part he stays with his outline(he puts on screen). I made an A+ on 1st exam by reading both textbooks and taking extra notes on what was in the book & studying lecture notes. Take him, its worth the work.

Extremely hard!! ridiculous..especially if it's your first semester in school I do NOT recommend him!! I was not used to doing writing intesive exams so I got a terrible grade in the class. You have to go to class because you will be writing the whole time and if you miss a day you've missed a good 5 pages of notes.
