One of the best profs on campus. The class is tough and so is he, but its worth it. If you love economics or are even just interested in it and are willing to put in the effort I highly recommend this course. You will learn so much and enjoy it. You must put in effort for the tests and plan to study for them heavily.

Definitely the hardest class I've ever taken. His tests are mostly open- ended questions and you basically write everything you know. He's super great and definitely cares about you. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. His grading isn't black and white so if you show effort it WILL matter. He seems to favor athletes in class, but not in grading.

In all honesty, probably the most knowledgable professor on this campus. A's in his classes are not impossible. You will have to devote more time to his class than you probably want to, but I guarantee that you will learn more in one semester than any other course. Go talk with him outside of class, effort in his class determines if you pass.

Comment:
The hardest professor of my life. Dr. Scott sets unreasonably high expectations for this introductory course. More than a quarter of the class withdrew, and an A was almost impossible to earn. Unless God is calling you to be an economist, I strongly recommend avoiding. He doesn't give nearly enough time for tests, which make up your entire grade.

Graduate from long ago. He was the best from undergraduate through grad school. If you want to do well, he will help you get there no matter what. His tests are hard but it is nice as generally they are the only work so you can plan your studying around other classes.

Excellent Professor. He has a wonderful grasp of the material and tries his best to help every student learn. He offers personal sessions to those who need it even. His tests are very VERY hard, but well worth it. His classes are so captivating and you learn something from every single one.

Super fun, interesting, and helpful teacher, but don't let that fool you. His tests are the work of pure evil, but if study tons and avoid the book and go to the help sessions and maybe sacrafice a goat or two its possible to do well.

I think that since there isn't homework or any other assignments in his class people tend to slack off. I think they're surprised to find out how much stress he puts on tests. They are extremely long and thorough but not very hard, they just cover a lot of material. I'm now majoring in Economics because of him. GreatTeacher, IfYoureNotLazyTakeHim.

Great Economist, okay teacher. Hardest teacher I've had here, and the tests are GRUELING. Our final took over 3 hours of solid work. Great guy, but very, very difficult teacher. Write down everything he says, as it's all fair game for tests.

He's a brilliant economist, but a bad teacher in my opinion. Don't buy the book. He will never use it, and he doesn't teach anything that's in it. The book will only lead you astray. He wants you to succeed, but he doesn't explain it well. Everyone struggled. VERY difficult. If you miss one class, you will probably fail the whole course. So hard.

He did an excellent job teaching Journeys. He stressed only the most important points and empathized with the students when we didn't have all of our readings done or needed more time with a paper.

Dr. Scott shaped my experience at Hendrix. He challenged me beyond all belief, but belived in me every step of the way. Without his personal attention and support, I would NOT have made it through the hard times. International and Intermediate series kicked my booty, but left me with an enormous sense of accomplishment.
