Great style, knows her stuff (I have her for her Witchcraft and Magic in the Renaissance) and she's a very thorough professor. She makes sure everyone understands the material and encourages class participation.

She kind of looks like a female version of Snape - but with a less sexy voice. I also found her cold, and rather condescending. There's no doubt she's extremely intelligent, and knows her stuff, but I've never felt dumber than when I was in her class, and I'm an English major. She does have great clothes, though...

Comment:
Her personality is cold and too self-involved, but she loves the literature, and that comes across. She's a bit too impatience, makes litlle effort at formalities or being nice. She carries herself like she's too good for everyone else. If--somehow--you can get time alone with her, she will help you improve your work, and her recommendations help.

Brilliant, sassy, well-read, organized lecturer. She took care to memorize everyone's names (in a 100-person lecture) and balance her time between lecture and Q+A. One of the best teachers in the ENG department.

Annoyed that all of her material came from her husband (Greenblat). A bit of a **** if you bring up other perspectives.

she's wicked smart, bitingly sarcastic and very well dressed. I had her for english core which was kind of a dumb course, but she did the best she could to get through the boring as ef introductory meter, vocab, etc and get onto the literature.

I don't know where the negativity is coming from here, because the targoff was one of the sharpest lecturers I had at brandeis. The depth of her knowledge is incredible and she brings a lot of wit, depth, and humanity to her classes. But if you say something dumb, watch out, because she'll let you and the other 60 people in your class know it.

Bright-enough, engaging lecturer (much of her material is cribbed from Stephen Greenblatt, but so much the better!)
