Dr. Nadeau is an amazing professor! He really cares about all of his students and he gives really in-depth feedback. He's super fun in class and really knows what he's talking about. The assignments require a lot of work, but you only have like 3 or 4 major papers each semester, so it evens out.

Comment:

One of my favorite teachers of all time. I'm not interested in East Asian studies at all and am still considering taking his classes just because he's that great. If he's your FYE teacher, DON'T skip class and DON'T mess around on essays. Six credit hours has a huge impact on your GPA.

This is by far the best common curriculum to take, and the best professor to take it with. He is incredibly funny, and makes class engaging although its an 8:30 class. I regret that I rarely showed up because I'm lazy af, but still got A's on the test if you read the book and take notes on your own. Great class, great professor, and just a kind man

Nadeau is simply the best. He takes a topic, which most would assume is boring, and makes it very interesting. I didn't get that great of a grade, because I didn't STUDY a lot. I would take this class again! He is very down to earth and FUNNY. I recommend taking this class!

Great prof, great class. Even though it was at 830 for a Tues/Thurs block, he still managed to keep it interesting. As long as you go over the term lists and the papers handed out in class (of which there are a lot) you'll be good. Definitely my favorite class of the semester.

My favorite class all semester. Great at conveying the understandings of each religion as a practicioner would look at it, not just a clinical view. Tests are no big deal if you go to class and study a wee bit. Going to take every class of his i can get into.

Great class. I didn't make a great grade...mostly because I didn't bother to memorize the vocabulary words but I learned more in that class than most I have taken. He does a fantastic job of conveying the meanings of words in Chinese, Sanskrit, Pali, etc. for which there is really no english equivilant. It is beautiful

Great teacher. Tests cover a lot of terms and ideas but 80% essay with not strict grading. I am a first year taking the class and I have an A. The reading are enjoyable if you can get past Smith's World Religion book. And Darsan is sooo boring. Other than that, read and go to class often and should be an A. The essays are over main points in class.
