Phillis is one of the best professors at CMU. Attendance and participation are mandatory, besides that, it's an easy class. You're graded very fairly and clearly. I'm making sure to take more of his classes in the future. 10/10

Randy is an amazing professor, specializing in early American Lit and poetry. If you skip class a lot or don't participate, you won't pass. He used to be the department head before stepping down. Show up to class and participate in discussion and it's an easy class.

Phillis is not only unprepared, but does not provide any clear direction about what he wants included in his assignments. He does not provide any rubrics or in class discussion about upcoming assignments. He's a creep, ladies watch out favor's people and it is shown in his grading, he also waited until an hour before final to submit grades.

Phillis rarely ever lectured, preferring the socratic method when we discussed texts as a class. Often times, your entire view on an author or their work would shift afterwards. He's a tough grader, but it's one of those classes where you want to earn the A. I learned a lot and would take him again.

Dr. Phillis is my favorite professor at CMU. He is very clear in what he wants for his students but he is willing to help when you need it. I had him for three classes and he was a great asset to the class. Highly recommend him.

He is a GREAT teacher! Super helpful and class was always pretty easy. Gave us the guidlines for the papers and let us take over the rest. More creative writting than anything but makes it fun! the only complaint is that he made a lot of work due day after day. Was challenging but highly recomend

Randy is direct and clear in his assignments. He gives you plenty of feedback on your work and the opportunity to improve if your willing to put in the work. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs this class.
